Vietnamese female player has appendicitis and must undergo surgery before Southeast Asian tournament

While training with the national team to prepare for the Southeast Asian Women's Championship, Nguyen Thi Tuyet Ngan unfortunately suffered from appendicitis and had to undergo surgery, and was at risk of not being able to compete.

After completing the Asian Cup qualifying campaign, the Vietnamese women's team gathered again from July 13 to prepare for the 2025 Southeast Asian Women's Cup. Unfortunately, on the evening of July 14, Nguyen Thi Tuyet Ngan suddenly suffered from appendicitis, had to be hospitalized and had successful surgery on the morning of July 15.

The Vietnamese women's team has only 3 weeks left to compete in the Southeast Asian Women's Championship. It is currently unclear whether Tuyet Ngan will be able to return to play. The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) said that if her health improves, the player born in 2000 can return in time to participate in the tournament with the team.

On July 17, Tuyet Ngan was discharged from the hospital and returned to the training ground with the Vietnamese women's team at VFF. Mr. Nguyen Van Phu - General Secretary of VFF - and several federation officials met, visited and encouraged the female player.

The federation leaders acknowledged Tuyet Ngan's spirit of overcoming difficulties, her desire to compete and her contributions to Vietnamese women's football, and wished her a speedy recovery so she can return to the field as soon as possible.

Nguyen Thi Tuyet Ngan was born in 2000, from Long An (now Tay Ninh), is one of the potential young players of Vietnamese women's football.

Tuyet Ngan is an important player for the Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club, winning many domestic titles with the team. On the national team, Tuyet Ngan is also a core member in the generational transition process, participating in many training sessions before major tournaments such as the SEA Games, Asian Cup and World Cup.

Tuyet Ngan won the 2024 Vietnam Women's Silver Ball award thanks to her excellent performance for Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club last year. She also made many contributions to the team's journey to the semi-finals of the AFC Champions League Women's season 2024 - 2025.
