At the propaganda session, Captain Le Van Hieu - officer of the Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention, Tay Ninh Provincial Police, informed students of Tay Ninh High School about methods and tricks related to online kidnapping crimes; measures to prevent, be vigilant, and handle when being isolated and coerced in cyberspace.

Online kidnapping is a sophisticated and dangerous scam that seriously affects people's psychology and causes property damage. Some tricks include: Subjects often impersonate the police, the prosecutor's office, accuse the victim of committing a crime (drugs, money laundering); manipulate psychology, force the victim to keep secrets, remove the phone SIM, turn on airplane mode, contact via Zalo/Telegram; request to move to a private place (hotel, border), provide sensitive photos/ videos ; blackmail the family, fake "kidnapping", threaten to sell organs, spread sensitive content (request to transfer money from hundreds of millions to several billion VND);...

In addition to information on some typical cases of online kidnapping crimes in the area, police officers also disseminated to students the provisions of the law on handling crimes related to violations of the law using high technology, on cyberspace. Thereby drawing practical lessons for students in the process of studying and living. One of the important issues that students need to grasp: "Connection is the key, always share with family, friends or teachers to break the isolation trap of criminals".

Students boldly share common problems when using social networks

Everyone needs to follow the “3 no’s” to protect themselves from online kidnapping: Do not join links, Zoom or meet strangers; do not share personal information or sensitive photos; do not comply with the subject’s request to keep secrets. At the same time, follow the “3 musts” to avoid being lured and manipulated: Must block and report immediately, must verify information, must share with relatives.

In addition, students were also instructed on how to use social networks safely, effectively and securely. The propaganda session took place in a lively and open atmosphere with many real-life situations being raised and answered. Students actively participated and boldly discussed common problems when using social networks.

Promoting propaganda and guidance on safe and healthy use of social networks is one of the important solutions. Thereby, it helps people raise awareness, gain knowledge and skills to use social networks safely, civilly and legally, and at the same time proactively prevent early, knowing how to protect themselves from the risks of online fraud and kidnapping./.
