The conference on disseminating border policies and laws to typical village chiefs on both sides of the Vietnam - Laos border is one of the events of the "Vietnam - Laos, Laos - Vietnam Solidarity and Friendship Year 2022", an opportunity for the two countries to disseminate border-related policies and laws to village chiefs.

The conference was co-chaired by Party Central Committee Secretary, Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai; Lao Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Saleumxay Kommasith. Also attending were representatives of central and local ministries, departments and agencies of the two countries; nearly 200 outstanding village chiefs from 10 Vietnamese border provinces and 10 Lao border provinces.

This is a major event with the participation of nearly 200 typical village chiefs of 20 border provinces of Vietnam - Laos, prestigious people in the border localities between Vietnam - Laos. The conference helps the village chiefs better understand the policies and laws related to the border, thereby continuing to do better in their role as "fire-bearers", "nuclei" who grasp and spread the meaning and importance of the participation of the entire population in managing and protecting the border and border markers, contributing to maintaining and strengthening the Vietnam - Laos border to always be peaceful , stable, friendly and cooperative for mutual development. The conference is an affirmation and recognition of the important role and contributions of the people in the border area, especially the village chiefs, prestigious people in the border area of the two countries to the cause of protecting the common border; At the same time, it is also an opportunity to express gratitude and encourage the village chiefs, along with the efforts of the functional forces of both sides, to continue contributing to border work and to the solidarity and close relationship between the two countries. Speaking at the Conference, the two Deputy Prime Ministers highly appreciated the cooperation of the Central Border Agencies of the two countries with the People's Committees of Nghe An province and relevant ministries, branches and localities of the two sides to organize the Conference; saying that this is an affirmation and recognition of the important role of the village chiefs - prestigious people in the border areas of the two countries - in the cause of protecting the common border. The two Deputy Prime Ministers emphasized the dissemination and popularization of international treaties and agreements, especially the contents of the two legal documents on the border, including the Protocol on the Vietnam - Laos border line and border markers and the Agreement on the regulations on border management and land border gates of Vietnam - Laos, which are of special importance and determine the effectiveness of border work between the two countries. Therefore, through this Conference, representatives of ministries, branches, localities and typical village chiefs of the two countries have had more important information about the guidelines, policies and strategies of the two Parties and two States related to territorial borders, as well as the consistent policy in maintaining, consolidating and enhancing the special relationship between Vietnam and Laos.

The two leaders expressed their belief that when returning to their localities, the exemplary village chiefs of the two countries will spread the content and spirit of the Conference and continue to promote their role as the core in propaganda, mobilization and guidance for people in the border communes and villages to well implement the policies of the two Parties, the legal regulations of the two countries, especially the issue of respecting and protecting the border line and landmarks; the issue of border crossing, marriage between people in the border areas of the two sides; and other issues such as encroachment, encroachment, free migration across the border... The village chiefs of the two countries will continue to strengthen cultural exchanges, replicate the village-to-village twinning model, and together build the border areas of the two sides into exemplary cultural villages, bright spots in the border of the Fatherland. Thereby, building and developing the socio -economic situation of the border areas, eliminating hunger and reducing poverty, improving the lives of people in the border areas of the two sides; at the same time fostering the good traditional friendship between the two countries./.Bich Huong
