Coach Philippe Troussier left out eight names when registering 26 players for the friendly match against Palestine at Thien Truong Stadium, Nam Dinh on September 11.

The eliminated players include Duong Van Hao, Nguyen Huu Son, Dinh Thanh Binh, Hoang Thai Binh , Dang Tuan Phong, Bui Tien Dung, Andrej Nguyen An Khanh and Tran Nam Hai. Previously, defender Doan Van Hau also withdrew due to injury.
Among those eliminated, overseas Vietnamese midfielder An Khanh has not met the professional requirements, despite being given the opportunity to train with both the U23 team and the Vietnam national team. Meanwhile, center back Nam Hai was added to the Vietnam Olympic team to prepare for the 19th Asiad. New players who were called up for the first time, such as Nguyen Huu Son and Hoang Thai Binh, have not been able to make an impression to stay on the team.
Besides the old faces, on this occasion, Mr. Troussier gave opportunities to some new factors such as midfielder Pham Van Luan ( Hanoi Police), defender Pham Trung Hieu (Hai Phong), striker Vu Quang Nam (Ha Tinh). The Vietnamese team will practice at Thien Truong Stadium on September 10 before playing Palestine on September 11. In October, Coach Troussier and his team will tour East Asia, playing three more friendly matches with China on October 10, Uzbekistan on October 13 and South Korea on October 17.
