Tesla CEO Elon Musk said he was joking when he made the challenge, but then suggested a location. However, billionaire Mark Zuckerberg always gave reasons to decline.
"Summary of the challenge: I joked about fighting Zuckerberg on X. Then he said 'Send me the location'. Italy was ready for the Colosseum. Zuckerberg declined. I offered to come to his house as a 'safe space'. Tragically, he was elsewhere. Is there anywhere he could fight me?" , Elon Musk wrote on Twitter early on August 16.

However, Musk did not clarify whether he actually wanted the match to take place.
Previously, on August 13, CEO Meta Zuckerberg sent out an unclear message about the match with Musk, and expressed his desire to withdraw from the noise surrounding this issue.
"Elon didn't confirm a date, then said he needed surgery, and now he's asking for a workout in my backyard. If he's serious about an official match, he'll know how to contact me. If not, it's time to stop talking. I'll just focus on competing with people who take the sport seriously," the Meta boss said on the Threads platform on August 13.
On August 14, Mr. Musk said he would drive to the Meta CEO's Palo Alto home that night and livestream it for everyone to watch. "If we're lucky and Zuck opens the door, the battle will begin," Mr. Musk said. However, Mr. Zuckerberg was not in Palo Alto at the time.
The Verge newspaper on August 15 quoted the representative of Meta CEO as saying that Mark takes this match very seriously and would not agree to compete with someone who randomly showed up at his house.
According to Bloomberg , Elon Musk initiated a cage match with Mark Zuckerberg at the end of June. However, he has not been able to finalize the match date because he needs to undergo a medical examination and may need surgery. He also admitted that he does not have the advantage in terms of endurance and may lose if he fights for a long time with the Meta CEO.
Musk and Zuckerberg have been sparring on X and Threads about the fight lately, but observers still think it’s unlikely to happen. “I’m skeptical about that scenario. The idea is interesting, but it could backfire and create discomfort,” Mathieu Deflem, a sociology professor at the University of South Carolina, told Bloomberg.
