Today (May 28), the coaching staff and the U.20 women's players of Vietnam were present at the Phu Tho Provincial Convention Center to prepare for the second qualifying round of the 2024 U.20 Asia Cup taking place from June 3 to June 11. In this round, coach Akira Ijiri brought along the players in the best form, with the core being the faces who helped him overcome the first qualifying round also at Viet Tri Stadium such as captain Bao Tram, striker Minh Chuyen, Hong Cham...
To prepare for the second qualifying round, the Vietnam U.20 women's team had 11 days of training in Japan. Coach Akira Ijiri's students had three friendly matches with Seisa Academy, JFA Fukusima Academy and Tokyo High School. This was a valuable experience, helping the Vietnam U.20 women's team gain experience and improve their skills.
Vietnam U.20 women's team has arrived in Phu Tho
According to the plan, the Vietnam U.20 women's team will maintain a schedule of 2 training sessions per day at the Phu Tho Provincial Sports Complex before entering the opening match against the Iran U.20 women's team at 7:00 p.m. on June 3 at Viet Tri Stadium.
Coach Akira Ijiri shared: "All three opponents of the Vietnam U.20 women's team are very strong, so every match is difficult for us. However, the team's goal is to pass the second qualifying round and participate in the 2024 U.20 Asian finals. Basically, my work with the Vietnam U.20 women's team has not changed, preparing for every tournament is the same, from now until the 2024 U.20 Asian finals will not change. There are still many things that I am not satisfied with, specifically the individual techniques and tactics of the whole team. I am talking about the perspective of international, Asian and world tournaments. The women's team can play well in Southeast Asia, but in Asia and the world, it is very different.
Talking about the factors we need to have, it all comes down to technique, that is the important factor. Instead of physical strength, the world's top teams all have very good technique. That is the way to bring Vietnamese football to the world."
Captain Le Thi Bao Tram of the Vietnam U.20 women's team emphasized: "In the past time, we had 3 weeks of preparation, then trained in Japan and gained experience to prepare for the second qualifying round of the 2024 U.20 Asia. During the training sessions, we practiced the tactics given by the coaching staff, improving what was lacking to prepare for the next match. Actually, we had 1 month of preparation, which is not too long for the whole team to understand each other. The players still do not understand each other in coordination. That is the team's weakness, but it is not a problem because we have 1 week to prepare for the first match."
