Who will U.23 Vietnam face in the U.23 Asian qualifiers?

Vietnam U.23 will participate in the 2026 AFC U.23 Championship qualifiers in September, as the host of Group C. Coach Kim Sang-sik and his team will face Bangladesh U.23, Singapore U.23 and Yemen U.23 to compete for a ticket to the final round.

The matches in Group C of U.23 Vietnam all took place at Viet Tri Stadium, Phu Tho Province. This is a familiar stadium and brings luck to all levels of the Vietnamese team. U.23 Vietnam and U.17 Vietnam have passed the Asian qualifiers at Viet Tri Stadium. The Vietnamese team also won the AFF Cup 2024 with 4 wins in all matches at the sacred homeland.

U.23 Vietnam will open the 2026 AFC U-23 Championship qualifying round with a match against U.23 Bangladesh at 7:00 p.m. on September 3. In the second match, coach Kim Sang-sik and his team will meet U.23 Singapore at 7:00 p.m. on September 6. In the final match, U.23 Vietnam will meet U.23 Yemen at 7:00 p.m. on September 9. The group winner will directly qualify for the 2026 AFC U-23 Championship finals, while the runner-up must be in the best group to qualify.

There is a coincidence: U.23 Vietnam is also in the same group as U.23 Singapore and U.23 Yemen in the 2024 U.23 Asian qualifiers. At Viet Tri Stadium, the young team led by coach Philippe Troussier defeated U.23 Yemen (1-0) and drew with U.23 Singapore (2-2) to take the top spot in the group.

U.23 Vietnam also became the earliest team to win a ticket to the 2024 AFC U.23 Championship finals, not counting host U.23 Qatar.

Vietnam U.23 has won tickets to the final round of the Asian U.23 Championship continuously since 2016. At the biggest playground of Asian youth football, Vietnam U.23 won the runner-up position once (2018), and entered the quarter-finals twice (2022, 2024).

To prepare for the U.23 Asian qualifiers, the young players will gather at the end of August, after the third round of the V-League 2025 - 2026 ends. The goal of U.23 Vietnam is to win a ticket to the final round.
