Commenting on the training trip to Japan, head coach Okiyama Masahiko said that the Vietnamese U20 women's players had played many matches with strong Japanese teams, most of whom were older, helping the players learn a lot.
“We also realized that there are still some issues that need to be improved. This is a meaningful training trip, not only helping the players improve their skills but also broadening their cultural and lifestyle experiences, thereby contributing significantly to their comprehensive maturity,” said the Japanese coach.
Regarding the upcoming goal, coach Okiyama Masahiko affirmed that the whole team is determined to overcome each match in the qualifying round to win a ticket to the 2026 Asian U20 Women's Finals.
“The team will try to score many goals to dedicate to the fans. We have started to collect and analyze information about the opponents in the qualifying round, and continue to improve the shortcomings from the recent Southeast Asian U19 Women's Championship,” added coach Okiyama Masahiko.
According to the plan, from July 24, the training sessions of the Vietnam U20 women's team will be moved to a later time (from 6:00 p.m.) to get used to the competition time in the 2026 Asian U20 Women's Qualifiers.
Vietnam's U20 women's team is expected to have a number of friendly matches with domestic clubs, which will help the head coach determine the best squad for the 2026 Asian U20 Women's Qualifiers.
Vietnam's U20 women's team will compete in the 2026 Asian U20 Women's Qualifiers at home from August 2 to 10.
According to the draw results, the team is in group B with opponents Kyrgyzstan, Hong Kong (China) and U20 Singapore.
In the qualifying round, the group winners and the three best runners-up will join the host team Thailand in the final round of the 2026 AFC U20 Women's Championship, taking place from April 1 to 18, 2026.
