Many residential areas in Ha Giang 2 ward face high risk of landslides

Due to the consecutive effects of storms No. 10 and 11, in recent days in Ha Giang 2 ward there has been moderate rain, heavy rain, and in some places very heavy rain, causing the hilly land to be saturated with water, posing many risks of landslides.

The hill behind the house of a resident in group 6 Quang Trung, ward Ha Giang 2 has begun to erode, the house walls have many cracks.

According to records, in the residential area of ​​​​group 6 Quang Trung and the area along the Lo River, landslides have appeared in many places. From the road surface to the subsidence area, the height is from 15m to 30m, many cracks are dozens of centimeters wide. Soil and rocks from above continuously fall down, threatening the safety of more than 40 households living at the foot of the hill. Many houses have cracks in the foundation, walls have collapsed, and pieces of soil and rocks have slid down close to the residential area. Some households have proactively evacuated people and property from the dangerous area.

Ha Giang 2 Ward currently has 61 residential groups with an area of ​​over 60 km². Through screening, the entire ward recorded 18 points at high risk of landslides. Local authorities have conducted field inspections and determined the level of danger in each area; at the same time, they advised people to be more vigilant, proactively move assets out of risk areas, closely monitor weather developments and strictly follow disaster prevention and control instructions to minimize possible damage.
