Due to the impact of storm No. 11 and prolonged heavy rain, on the morning of October 8, a serious landslide occurred at the beginning of the road leading to the center of Dong Van commune, completely collapsing the Dong Van Commune Welcome Gate. At that time, no one was moving through this area, so there were no casualties.

Immediately after the incident, local authorities and functional forces quickly arrived at the scene, cleared rocks and soil, ensured traffic safety and urgently developed a plan to restore the project.

The gate collapsed completely due to a large amount of soil sliding down from the hill.

The Dong Van Commune Gate was inaugurated in November 2024 with a width of 10.5m, a height of 6.3m, built from 740 stones, nearly 18.5m3 of wood and over 26,000 yin-yang tiles with a total cost of over 1.5 billion VND, 100% from socialized sources. This is an architectural work, a cultural symbol of the people in the far North of the Fatherland. At the same time, it is a famous check-in point for tourists when coming to Dong Van Commune in particular and Dong Van Stone Plateau in general.
