On October 8, information from the People's Committee of Soc Son commune said that the impact of storm No. 11 combined with heavy rains in recent days has caused serious flooding in Soc Son commune.

The total rainfall measured in the commune reached more than 255mm, of which 180mm was recorded on October 7 alone. The water level of the Ca Lo River at Manh Tan station exceeded the third alarm level, reaching 8.47m - the highest level since the beginning of the flood season. It is forecast that the river water level will continue to rise due to the impact of heavy rains and flood discharge from upstream reservoirs.

Prolonged heavy rains caused more than 1,000 households in low-lying areas to be flooded, concentrated in riverside villages such as: Duoc Ha, Tan Do - Xom Chom, Dong Lac, Ca village, Ben village... Many key traffic routes were deeply flooded, such as: National Highway 3 through Duoc Ha - Noi Phat, Nui Doi road, Provincial Road 131 and many village and hamlet routes in residential areas; about 20 trees were fallen and tilted...

Faced with that situation, the People's Committee of Soc Son commune urgently deployed response measures. The commune mobilized more than 100 cadres, militia, police, medical staff, and village cadres to respond 24/24, ready to handle emergency situations. Flooded areas were treated, water was drained, and food and drinking water were provided to affected households. The government also arranged temporary evacuation points, prepared necessary supplies and necessities to ensure people's safety in case of continued flooding.

Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Soc Son Commune, Bui Kim Thoa, said that the commune had held an urgent meeting with relevant units, directed the implementation of measures to overcome the consequences and inspected heavily flooded areas and areas at risk of landslides. In particular, the road to the Saint Giong Monument had several landslides with hundreds of cubic meters of rock and soil blocking the road. The authorities had set up warning fences, blocked the road and coordinated with relevant agencies to handle the situation.

According to the assessment of the Commune Civil Defense Command, the flooding situation may continue due to the rising water level of the Ca Lo River and the heavy rains that have not stopped. The Soc Son Commune authorities continue to closely monitor the weather and prepare plans to evacuate residents in low-lying areas if the water level continues to rise, ensuring absolute safety for people and property during the rainy and stormy season.
