After 5 years of implementing the National Target Program on New Rural Construction for the 2021-2025 period, illiteracy eradication work has achieved many positive results, contributing to improving people's knowledge and quality of life.

To date, 100% of provinces and cities nationwide have maintained the level 1 literacy standard; of which, more than 87% of units have achieved level 2 standard. The literacy rate among the 15-60 age group has increased steadily every year. The whole country has mobilized over 260,000 people to participate in literacy training, with an average of more than 52,000 students each year.

The force of teachers, collaborators and the system of community learning centers, continuing education centers, vocational education - continuing education centers have promoted efficiency, proactively surveyed, opened classes, and assigned teaching in accordance with the conditions of each locality, especially in difficult areas, border areas, and ethnic minority areas.

Many places have flexible and creative ways of mobilizing social forces such as village elders, village chiefs, religious dignitaries, border guards, etc. to directly participate in teaching and mobilizing people to attend classes, creating a positive ripple effect in the community.

Some educational centers coordinate with schools and community learning centers to organize literacy classes, assign teachers to teach directly in the classroom, or sign contracts with teachers at all levels when there is a shortage of human resources.

In addition, many localities also integrate learning activities into festivals and traditional cultural activities to improve the quality of illiteracy eradication and maintain literacy results in a sustainable manner.
