Maintain high levels of universal education and literacy

For many years, Hung Yen has always been considered one of the leading localities in the country in the work of universalizing education and eliminating illiteracy. According to the summary report of the 2024-2025 school year, all communes and wards of the province have met the standards of universalizing education for 5-year-old preschool children; universalizing primary and secondary education at level 3; and eliminating illiteracy at level 2.

The province currently has 1,268 preschool, general education, and continuing education facilities, 753,649 students, and 45,150 managers and teachers. Of these, there are 164,689 children at preschool level with 13,305 managers and teachers; 568,425 students and 31,226 managers and teachers at general education level; Continuing education has 20,535 students and 619 managers and teachers.

The rate of children attending school and classes continues to be maintained at a high level. Of which, nursery schools reach 53.9%, kindergartens reach 99.99% (5-year-old group reaches 100%), 100% of 6-year-olds enter grade 1, 100% of students complete primary school to enter grade 6. The rate of junior high school graduates entering public and private high schools is 79.4%; continuing education is 15.4% and vocational education accounts for 5.2%.

Notably, the rate of integrated preschool children with disabilities reached 79.8%, demonstrating the efforts of the education system in ensuring the right to education for all children.

Along with that, school facilities and equipment continue to be invested in, repaired, and upgraded in the direction of solidification and modernization with 21,894 solid classrooms and 751 standard libraries. The whole province has 1,065/1,217 standard schools, accounting for 87.5%.

In addition, the Department of Education and Training of Hung Yen actively advised the Provincial People's Committee to implement plans to build a learning society and develop a network of community learning centers. Localities maintained the effective operation of community learning centers, organized lifelong learning weeks, encouraged online learning and improved digital skills for teachers, students and people.

The province currently has 209/399 community learning centers with their own headquarters, relatively fully equipped with computers connected to the Internet, printers, filing cabinets, tables, chairs, charts, etc. This network not only maintains the level 2 literacy results but also creates lifelong learning opportunities for rural people, self-employed workers and the elderly, helping them improve their knowledge and skills to serve their lives.

This is a testament to Hung Yen province's special attention to education, and reflects the persistent efforts of all levels, sectors and localities in improving people's knowledge and building a learning society.

Strive to complete universal preschool education for children aged 3-5 years old

In the coming time, Hung Yen will continue to do well in universalizing education and eliminating illiteracy to build a solid and comprehensive intellectual foundation to develop high-quality human resources and prevent re-illiteracy among adults.

At the same time, the province also focuses on streamlining students after junior high school, developing and improving the quality of general education, contributing to the successful implementation of socio-economic development.

Implementing Resolution No. 71-NQ/TW of the Politburo on breakthroughs in education and training development, Hung Yen aims to complete universal preschool education for children aged 3-5 and compulsory education up to the end of secondary school by 2030; 95% of educational institutions meeting national standards, 100% of high schools completing comprehensive digital transformation.

According to the leader of the Department of Education and Training of Hung Yen, the provincial education sector will continue to innovate programs, methods and forms of preschool education, ensuring absolute safety for children.

Effectively implement the General Education Program to ensure scientific and pedagogical qualities; maximize the exploitation of facilities and teaching equipment to help students meet the requirements of the Program; effectively implement 2-session teaching/day, improve the quality of STEM/STEAM activities, develop digital capacity, apply AI, perform well in career guidance... at the same time, strengthen foreign language teaching, especially English.

Hung Yen education sector is determined to firmly maintain the results of universalizing preschool education for 5-year-old children, universalizing primary education, universalizing lower secondary education, eliminating illiteracy, and gradually striving to achieve higher standards.

At the same time, focus on equity in education, creating conditions for children from disadvantaged groups such as orphans, homeless children, people with disabilities, children from poor and near-poor households to all have access to education.
