Speaking at the event, People's Teacher and Doctor Dang Huynh Mai - President of the Association of Retired Teachers of the Ministry of Education and Training for the 2020-2025 term - emphasized that the Congress was held on the occasion of the 43rd anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers' Day (November 20th) and the 80th anniversary of the tradition of the education sector. In particular, our country is entering a new era, and the education sector is undergoing strong transformations and facing many opportunities and challenges.
During the past term, the Association of Retired Teachers of the Ministry of Education and Training has consistently focused on building and developing the organization, effectively fulfilling its nhiệm vụ and uniting the team of retired teachers of the Ministry of Education and Training. To date, the Association has consolidated and developed 28 branches with more than 1,300 members, with an average increase of 15 to 20 people each year.
The work of caring for the spiritual and material well-being of members has been ensured. The branches have encouraged members to participate in current affairs, read newspapers, watch television, and regularly keep abreast of the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's laws, and the regulations and rules of the city and residential area in order to motivate members to implement them effectively.
The Association participated in compiling opinions on the criteria for teacher ethics; compiled a list and submitted it to the Vietnam Association of Retired Teachers, and petitioned the State to continue paying attention to and caring for the lives of teachers who contributed to the resistance war against the US to save the country; and participated in meetings with teachers who went to the South to express gratitude to teachers who contributed to the country.
Local socio-political activities have also been strengthened. To date, 28 out of 28 branches have members participating as branch secretaries, deputy branch secretaries, group leaders, deputy group leaders, or heads of the Fatherland Front working committees. Members enthusiastically participate in social work and socio-political activities in the locality; most branches actively participate in promoting education and talent development in residential areas.
Overall, the Association of Retired Teachers of the Ministry of Education and Training has effectively fulfilled its functions and duties. From the Association to its branches, there is unity and a commitment to protecting the rights, both spiritual and material, of its members. The Association maintains good relations with specialized agencies at all levels and receives material and moral support from relevant authorities. The association's staff at all levels are dedicated, enthusiastic, and responsible.
From 2020 to 2023, the Association was continuously commended by the Vietnam Association of Retired Teachers for outstanding performance. In 2024, on the occasion of the 4th Congress of the Vietnam Association of Retired Teachers, the Association of Retired Teachers of the Ministry of Education and Training was awarded the flag of excellence for the 2019-2024 term. In 2025, the Association received a Certificate of Merit from the Vietnam Association of Retired Teachers for outstanding performance.
With the motto "Unity, democracy, intelligence, creativity, exemplary conduct, and responsibility," the Association of Retired Teachers of the Ministry of Education and Training will continue to actively contribute its intellect, experience, and voice in agreement with the industry's policies, and to disseminate and explain to society the Party's guidelines and the State's policies on education to create social consensus in the fundamental and comprehensive reform of education and training.
