An Giang signs cooperation agreement to search for martyrs' remains in Kampong Speu province

On the afternoon of October 8, at the Office of Kampong Speu Provincial Town Hall (Kingdom of Cambodia), the An Giang Provincial Task Force and the Kampong Speu Provincial Task Force held a signing ceremony for cooperation in searching, collecting, and repatriating the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died during the wars in Cambodia, period XXV (dry season 2025 - 2026).

In the dry season of 2024 - 2025, Team K93 of the Military Command of An Giang province searched for, collected, and brought back to Vietnam the remains of 36 Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died during the war in Cambodia in Kampong Speu province for burial. The total number of martyrs' remains searched for and collected by Team K93 in Kampong Speu province to date is 1,307.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Provincial Specialized Committee of An Giang Province Le Trung Ho and Mr. Kang Vannaro - Deputy Governor, Head of the Provincial Specialized Committee of Kampong Speu Province signed the memorandum of cooperation.

At the signing ceremony, the two sides highly appreciated the coordination in implementing the Agreement between the Government of Vietnam and the Royal Government of Cambodia and the cooperation documents between An Giang and Kampong Speu provinces on cooperation in searching, collecting and repatriating the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died during the war in Cambodia in Kampong Speu province, which has achieved many results, contributing to sharing the pain and irreparable loss of the martyrs' families.

The two sides agreed: The Kampong Speu Provincial Steering Committee will continue to direct the armed forces, relevant agencies and relevant localities to strengthen propaganda work, mobilize people to actively support, and announce information about the graves and remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who sacrificed their lives during the war in Cambodia in Kampong Speu province; organize forces to guide, protect and create all favorable conditions for Team K93 to carry out its tasks in absolute safety and achieve the best results.

Mr. Kang Vannaro - Deputy Governor, Head of the Kampong Speu Provincial Committee presented gifts to Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the An Giang Provincial Committee Le Trung Ho.

Speaking at the ceremony, comrade Le Trung Ho shared that the war has ended, but the pain is still there, because there are still fathers, mothers, and wives who are deeply saddened by the loss of their children and husbands. Therefore, the search, collection, and repatriation of martyrs' remains has a very profound meaning, contributing to partially alleviating the pain and loss of martyrs' relatives and demonstrating the tradition of "remembering the source of water when drinking" of the Vietnamese people.

Comrade Le Trung Ho also said that although there have been many efforts in coordinating the search, collection and repatriation of martyrs' remains, due to the many changes in terrain and topography, there are still many martyrs' remains that have not been found. An Giang province expressed its deep gratitude and hoped that the Party leaders, government, specialized committee and people of Kampong Speu province would continue to pay attention, direct, coordinate, support and create favorable conditions for Team K93 to continue the task of searching for and collecting martyrs' remains who died in Kampong Speu province to achieve the best results.

Authorized by the Government of Vietnam's Task Force, the Political Commissar of the An Giang Provincial Military Command presented funding to support the Kampong Speu Provincial Task Force.

On this occasion, the An Giang Provincial Task Force was authorized by the Vietnamese Government Task Force to award funding to support the Kampong Speu Provincial Task Force in coordinating activities to help Team K93 search and collect the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died during the war in Cambodia in Preah Sihanouk province, dry season 2025 - 2026.

Representatives of the Department of Home Affairs of An Giang province presented gifts to the Department of Social Affairs, Veterans and Rehabilitation of Kampong Speu province.

Representatives of An Giang Provincial Department of Tourism presented gifts to Kampong Speu Provincial Town Hall Office.

The signing ceremony was a great success.
