Coach Moulay Azzeggouarh and his team drew 0-0 with the host team U23 Tajikistan in the rematch that took place on the evening of March 23 (Vietnam time), thereby concluding the training trip in the neighboring country with a series of positive results.
Compared to the 1-0 victory over U23 Tajikistan in the first leg, assistant Moulay only kept striker Bui Vi Hao in the starting lineup and changed 10 other players. However, there was no sign of disarray in the lineup, but instead, the U23 Vietnam players entered the game with confidence. In the 14th minute, Vi Hao was pushed from behind by a U23 Tajikistan player when entering the opponent's penalty area. However, the referee did not award the away team a penalty.
A tense match was created by both sides, but the solidity of the U23 Vietnam defense system did not allow the home team to have any dangerous attacks in the first half. Assistant Moulay's team even almost scored the opening goal in the 34th minute. Breaking down from the left wing, striker Nguyen Minh Quang sent the ball beyond the reach of goalkeeper Khasanov Muhriddin, but his subsequent shot missed the target by a hair.
Closing the first 45 minutes with a 0-0 draw, U23 Vietnam continued to create a safe game in the remaining time. Minh Quang had another chance to approach the goal of U23 Tajikistan in the 56th minute, but missed it because he could not find a common voice with fullback Ho Van Cuong. In the 63rd minute, Sangov Shohrukh had a response when he shot the ball over the crossbar of U23 Vietnam by only a centimeter.
Towards the end of the match, the speed of the match gradually decreased due to the lack of physical strength of both sides. In the 87th minute, substitute striker Nguyen Quoc Viet had a chance to score in the penalty area, but goalkeeper Muhriddin promptly saved the goal for U23 Tajikistan. In the 90+4 minute, "spider man" Doan Huy Hoang dived to successfully block a shot from a U23 Tajikistan player, ending the match with a 0-0 draw.
Coach Moulay and his team won one victory and one draw in two friendly matches with the host team U23 Tajikistan. A very positive result when the coaching staff allowed all 23 players to play on this trip. On March 24, U23 Vietnam will return home, temporarily disband and before regrouping in mid-April to enter the final preparation stage for the final round of the U23 Asian Cup, which is also the qualifying round for men's football at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
