The event will introduce and promote tangible and intangible cultural tourism, resources and unique tourism products of Vietnam in general and Gia Lai in particular; attract domestic and international tourists, create a breakthrough in tourism, contribute to promoting the socio-economic development, strive to welcome 15 million visitors in 2026, with revenue reaching 40,000 billion VND (up 33% compared to 2025).

The event contributes to affirming the strengths of tourism associated with the sea, mountains and forests of the Central Highlands and unique culture, aiming to become the leading tourism center in Southeast Asia by 2045. Attracting people, international and domestic visitors to visit and experience, promoting comprehensive growth in scale, service quality, structure of domestic and international visitors, ensuring sustainability.
According to the Project, the theme of the National Tourism Year - Gia Lai 2026 is "Gia Lai - Convergence of identities, Green spread". The opening ceremony is expected to take place on March 31, 2026; the closing ceremony is expected at the end of December 2026. In addition, the Organizing Committee will hold a press conference to introduce the National Tourism Year - Gia Lai 2026 expected in the first quarter of 2026 in Hanoi , Ho Chi Minh City and Gia Lai province.
Regarding the damage after the natural disaster, up to now, 53 accommodation establishments in the province have reported damage of nearly 109 billion VND. Regarding the plan to recover and develop tourism after the natural disaster, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has developed key task groups, in which priority is given to ensuring destination safety and safety for tourists; improving service quality at tourist areas and spots; building products and promotional packages to stimulate tourism demand. At the same time, the tourism industry will step up communication, promotion and tourism promotion; support businesses to quickly restore operations, gradually stabilize and develop the tourism market in the coming time.
At the meeting, leaders of departments, branches and localities discussed and contributed many ideas related to the organization of activities within the framework of the National Tourism Year - Gia Lai 2026. The ideas focused on building an event program to ensure uniqueness and synchronization; strengthening connections between localities; improving the quality of tourism infrastructure; ensuring security and safety for tourists; as well as promoting communication to spread the image of Gia Lai tourism.

In particular, the National Tourism Year - Gia Lai 2026 is a premise for the province to promote tourism development in the coming time. In the context of preparing to organize the National Tourism Year, Gia Lai province has just suffered heavy damage caused by storms and floods, which is also a big challenge for the province. Therefore, the Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee requested departments, branches and localities to enhance their sense of responsibility, urgently complete the organization plan; focus on restoring tourism infrastructure, carefully preparing all conditions for the National Tourism Year - Gia Lai 2026 to take place successfully, effectively and create a remarkable impression.
The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to coordinate with relevant departments and branches to review, synthesize and report to the Provincial People's Committee on damages to infrastructure and tourism landscapes caused by storms and floods; propose the province to support individuals, organizations and businesses operating in the tourism and service sectors in the province that suffered damages due to natural disasters.
Regarding the preparation for the National Tourism Year - Gia Lai 2026, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested communes and wards in Pleiku City (old) and Quy Nhon City (old) to urgently renovate the urban areas; in which, the urban renovation needs to be planned, aesthetic, and suitable to the regional culture.
The Department of Construction is assigned to coordinate with localities to review and evaluate all beaches, prioritizing beaches related to tourism serving the National Tourism Year to focus on renovating the coast and renovating degraded areas to ensure safety, aesthetics and better serve tourism activities.
Regarding the organization of activities and events within the framework of the National Tourism Year, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism is requested to synthesize the comments of departments and branches at today's meeting, on that basis, it is possible to group events, event time, presiding agency, coordinating agency, implementing locality to ensure synchronization, science and efficiency in implementation. Along with that, coordinate with the Department of Finance to provide an estimate of the cost of organizing events.

The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism was assigned to advise on the establishment of a Steering Committee, an Organizing Committee and Sub-committees. In particular, comrade Nguyen Thi Thanh Lich suggested that an additional Sub-committee with experts knowledgeable in tourism, cuisine and services should be established to advise and help the province better organize the National Tourism Year.
The Department of Industry and Trade coordinates with the Department of Agriculture and Environment to review and advise the province on building a chain of stores to introduce OCOP products in a systematic, methodical and effective manner.
