On the afternoon of January 12, a working delegation of the People's Committee of Phu Yen province led by Permanent Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Phu Yen province Le Tan Ho had a working session with the People's Committee of Dak Lak province. At the meeting, the leaders of the two provinces discussed the proposal to the relevant authorities to plan, implement policies and orientations for the investment of the Tuy Hoa - Buon Ma Thuot Railway and the Phu Yen - Dak Lak Expressway. These are two modes of transport and strategic routes connecting the East - West, connecting the "Forest" with the "Sea", synchronously connecting the traffic infrastructure of the Central Highlands and the Central Coast... opening up a method of transporting large volumes, with low freight rates, high productivity, increasing regional connectivity, connecting multimodal traffic, and convenience. Thereby improving traffic capacity, reducing logistics costs, improving the competitiveness of the economy , creating favorable conditions for attracting investment, promoting production, processing, consumption and export of key products in the process of socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security of the two provinces in particular and the Central Highlands and Central Coast in general.

According to the Master Plan for the development of Vietnam's railway transport to 2020, with a vision to 2030 approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 1436/QD-TTg dated September 10, 2009 and Decision No. 1468/QD-TTg dated August 24, 2015, the Tuy Hoa - Buon Ma Thuot railway line has its starting point connecting with the North - South unified railway at Km1209+350 (New Phu Hiep Station) in Dong Hoa town, Phu Yen province; the end point connecting with the Central Highlands railway in Buon Ma Thuot city, Dak Lak province. The route has a total length of about 169 km, with the investment phase from 2020-2030 and after 2030.
According to the Road Network Planning for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050 approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 1454/QD-TTg dated September 1, 2021, the Phu Yen - Dak Lak Expressway starts at Bai Goc Port, Phu Yen Province, and ends at Dak Rue Border Gate, Dak Lak Province. The route has a total length of about 220 km, with an investment scale of 2-4 lanes, connecting with the country's key traffic axes and passing through the Nam Phu Yen Economic Zone, along the dry port system on the National Highway 29 transport corridor, connecting border gates, seaports, airports, and railways.

With the existing potential and advantages of the two provinces and the importance in connecting the Central Highlands and Central Coast provinces, and at the same time to ensure implementation in accordance with the policies and spirit of the Politburo and the Government, through the exchange of opinions at the working session, the leaders of the two provinces agreed to respectfully submit to the Ministry of Transport for consideration and report to the Prime Minister for approval of the policy to allow updating and supplementing the Tuy Hoa - Buon Ma Thuot Railway planning to the Railway Network Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050 and to soon implement the investment in the Phu Yen - Dak Lak Expressway (before 2030); continue to pay attention to investing in and upgrading National Highway 29.
In addition, the leaders of the two provinces also directed relevant levels and sectors to proactively and actively coordinate and promptly complete documents to submit to the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Transport in the coming time.
