"The hunt for Russian tanks continues. Soldiers of one of the units of the (Ukrainian) special forces planted TM62 anti-tank mines on one of the fronts. The enemy's T-90 tank exploded when it hit the mine," Ukrainian special forces said on April 21.
Traditional TM62 anti-tank mines are used by Ukraine to stop the advance of Russian tanks and armored vehicles. Ukraine has repeatedly claimed to destroy Russian military equipment, especially tanks, with TM62 mines.

The 45-ton T-90, with a crew of three, a 125-mm gun and composite armor, is one of Russia's most advanced tanks.
The T-90 was developed in the post-Soviet era. It is a version of the T-72 equipped with new technology. This tank has a maximum speed of over 60km/h, is equipped with a 7.62mm PKTM 6P7K machine gun mounted on the turret and has a range of 550km using a V-12 diesel engine.
The T-90 series is considered the most modern tank in the Russian arsenal with advanced explosive reactive armor, defense systems, and effective fire control systems that allow it to fire farther and more accurately at targets.
Russia has deployed the T-90M Proryv to the Ukrainian battlefield. This is a powerful upgraded version of Russia’s main battle tank, the T-90. It has a completely new turret and a more powerful engine. The Proryv has a new sighting system that allows weapons to be used at any time of the day. One advantage of the T-90M is that it can share data with other vehicles in real time.
The T-90M tank significantly outperforms its predecessor, the T-90, in combat effectiveness while retaining the advantages of the previous model.
The T-90M is equipped with the Shtora-M defense system to effectively protect against enemy guided anti-tank missiles, in the context that Western anti-tank missiles have been causing many challenges for Russian armor in recent times.

Lieutenant Oleksander Romanchuk, a Ukrainian tank company commander, acknowledged the superior combat capabilities of the Russian T-90, saying that it would take three tanks or "luck" to confront the Russian main battle tank.
Ukraine is relying on Soviet-era T-62 and T-72 tanks. These old tanks are said to be unable to counter Russia's T-90 tanks.
Ukrainian strategists and Western experts say Kiev needs more heavy, high-quality equipment to counter a major Russian offensive in the spring, as well as to retake the vast territories that Russia controls.
