The livestock industry plays an important role in Vietnam's agricultural structure, accounting for more than 25% of the total industry value.

In the first 6 months of 2025, the industry recovered strongly thanks to well-controlled epidemics, the pig herd reached 29.5 million, up 3.8% over the same period, the poultry herd exceeded 600 million, up 4%. Livestock product exports reached 264.4 million USD, up 10.1% over the same period last year.

However, according to Mr. Pham Kim Dang, Deputy Director of the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine ( Ministry of Agriculture and Environment ), the livestock industry still faces many challenges such as small-scale production, lack of linkage, heavy dependence on imported raw materials for animal feed and impacts from climate change.

To achieve the growth target of 5.7-5.98% in 2025 and maintain its position in the international market, the industry needs to promote the application of science , innovation and digital transformation, towards green, modern and sustainable production.

In this context, Vietstock 2025, an international exhibition specializing in livestock, animal feed, aquaculture and meat processing, is organized with the aim of introducing new technologies, updating trends, and discussing challenges of the industry in Vietnam as well as in the world. The exhibition is chaired by the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine, organized by Informa Markets.

“The Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine decided on the theme of this year's exhibition: "Promoting science and technology, innovation and digital transformation for the sustainable development of the livestock industry". This is the message that the livestock and veterinary medicine industry sends to all those working in the livestock and veterinary fields, which requires strong innovation in thinking and awareness; mobilizing and optimally using resources of the political system, of scientific and technological achievements, innovation and digital transformation, resources of businesses and people to develop the livestock industry sustainably", Mr. Pham Kim Dang advised.
