(NLDO) - The Youth Union of Son Tra District, Da Nang City will support free transportation of donated kumquat trees to plant in local gardens.

Kumquat trees are popular among people in the Central region for Tet decoration.

According to the district youth union, every Tet holiday, hundreds of kumquat trees are purchased and decorated by families to create a joyful and warm spring atmosphere. However, after Tet, many kumquat trees are thrown away, causing waste and affecting the environment.

With the desire to take advantage of the value of kumquat trees after Tet to green public lands and join hands to protect the environment, the Son Tra District Youth Union has launched the above donation program. The program accepts donations of kumquat trees that are still able to grow from families, agencies and units in the district.

The kumquat trees will be cared for and reused to plant in public gardens, bringing green space to the community. Donations will be accepted from February 4 to 11 at the Youth Union of each ward.

"The kumquat trees will be planted in existing gardens in the area. The District Youth Union assigns the youth union of each ward to take care of and manage these kumquat trees," said Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tung.

Currently , the Son Tra District Youth Union has also announced the phone number and location to receive kumquat donations in each ward in the area. " We look forward to receiving the response and support from you. Each donated kumquat tree is a meaningful action, contributing to preserving and developing a clean, green environment for the district" - Son Tra District Youth Union Secretary informed.
