Artist Van Dung is a familiar face to the audience through the role of Medical God in the program Tao Quan and some VTV dramas . Van Dung's roles are loved and supported by the audience.
Few people know that Van Dung has a son, now grown up, named Long Vu (at home, he is called Nhim). Long Vu appeared in the films Small Path to Life, My Family is Suddenly Happy , and recently, he attracted attention when he played the role of Cuong in the film Borderless War .
Sharing with Dan Tri reporter, artist Van Dung said, Long Vu really likes acting in movies. The role of Cuong in the movie Cuoc chien khong tuyen was cast by Vu himself, the female artist did not know about the movie and did not have any influence.
"After graduating from university, Long Vu stayed at home waiting to see if there was a movie casting, so he went himself, but his mother had no information at all. He was very impatient and kept asking: "Why didn't I get called to do movies? Or am I so ugly that no one invited me to act, Mom?"
I just said: "Calm down, son. Artists like Cong Ly, Quang Thang, Truong Giang... are not handsome but still make movies because of their ability and charm," artist Van Dung recounted.
The female artist said that Long Vu had auditioned for many films, and every time he failed, he was sad, so she had to encourage him. This time, getting a role in the film Unbounded War , Long Vu was very happy, telling his mother all day about the film crew.
Van Dung added: "Vu took the bus to Moc Chau to film. Sometimes he went for several days, only filming one segment, but he was very excited. I have to admit, he loves his job very much, maybe even more than… his mother."
Asked artist Van Dung: "Your son is pursuing an acting career but it seems like you don't support him much, do you let him "swim on his own"?
The female artist said: "Acting is a "made-for-all" profession. Even if you want to support this profession, if the audience doesn't love you, it will be very difficult to survive. You have to have real ability to be able to do this job for a long time. If you are a "son of a boss" and don't have talent, it will be very difficult to do this job."
Van Dung said that when she knew her son wanted to take the entrance exam to the Faculty of Acting, Hanoi University of Theatre and Cinema, she advised him that this profession is very hard and poor, if you don't have real talent, it will be very difficult. Second, you have to be really good, otherwise the profession will eliminate you very quickly, but her son was determined to follow the profession. Currently, she is also excited with each step of growing up with her son.
The female comedian recounted that Long Vu was a very emotional person, who knew how to care for his mother. Wherever he went, he had the habit of buying small gifts for his mother. When he started working part-time and received his first salary, Long Vu gave his mother a gold necklace, which moved Van Dung to tears. Long Vu also saved 10 million to give to his grandparents for Tet.
"My son is usually the one who remembers everyone's birthdays in the family. When he was in middle school, I went to perform until 1am and came home. When I opened the door, I saw him still awake and holding a cake to wish his mother a happy birthday. I was so moved that I couldn't speak. The money to buy the cake came from his savings of 30,000 VND, and the maid contributed 40,000 VND to buy his mother a small cake," Van Dung said about her son.

In addition, the actor of the movie War Without Borders is a rather simple person. Even though he is the son of a famous artist, Long Vu does not dress up or use trendy clothes.
She confided: "Hedgehog never asks his mother to buy him anything. He doesn't know how to use branded goods. Many times when I saw that he had very few clothes, I gave him money but he didn't take it. He only had 2 pairs of pants and 2 pairs of shoes to change, he rode every car without asking for anything. Once, his sandals were torn, he even asked his grandmother to take them to the market to fix them so he could wear them again.
When my child was in school, I always said: "Do you have money? Take 500,000 VND to go out and have a drink with your friends." He didn't take it, said he had it. I checked his wallet and there was only... 7,000 VND in his pocket. I felt so sorry for him...".
When asked: "Will Van Dung be a difficult mother-in-law in the future?" The female artist frankly said: "This mother-in-law is a bit "magical" but if you flatter her a little, she will... give up. I just need my daughter-in-law to be clean (laughs)".
Van Dung added that if her son gets married in the future, she will not live with her daughter-in-law but live separately so that her son and his wife can be independent. Furthermore, due to the generation gap, she will not interfere in the way her son and his wife raise their grandchildren.
"I also hope my children will find a woman who loves them. I am not a difficult mother-in-law. If I love my daughter-in-law, my children will love me," artist Van Dung confided.
Van Dung revealed that Long Vu once told his mother that when he gets married, he wants to be the one to earn money to support his wife. But she advised him that the more modern society becomes, the more equality is promoted, and women must go out to work to be more active.
"I told my son that even if women go out to work, it's okay if they don't earn much money. If both husband and wife work, they will limit the chance of sitting around and being jealous of each other. Both of them have to work to be more independent in spending. As for the family, the son will be the main person taking care of the family," Van Dung said.
