Artists and their journey of artistic creation

Early in the morning, it was pouring rain, but on the bus departing from the Thai Binh Literature and Arts Association to the creative camp in Ninh Binh province, the artists were filled with joy and laughter. Sharing with each other the newly completed song, the poetic ideas just flashed by but were enough to make the gray-haired heads feel young again with an age full of enthusiasm and passion.

As a newly admitted member of the Music and Dance Association, Mr. Do Anh Van said that the literary and artistic creation camp of Thai Binh artists taking place in Ninh Binh province from April 6 to 15 was a very meaningful trip. Putting aside their busy work, the artists devoted all their time to creation, and the poetic works were therefore more polished in language, more emotional and closer to daily life. To have materials and inspiration for creation, the group visited many famous places, historical and cultural relics, and experienced the lives of local people.

Mr. Do Anh Van shared: At this composition camp, I completed the musical work "Love of the Countryside". This is a song that I had conceived before, but my busy work made it impossible for me to calm down, have enough time to think and contemplate. Participating in the composition camp, I shared my ideas, discussed with the members of the group, then I sat down and wrote until 2am to complete the song. The next morning, I sang it for everyone and received further comments to perfect the lyrics. I was so satisfied with this work that before the summary of the composition camp took place, I found a suitable voice and at the same time, completed the harmony and arrangement of the song. "Love of the Countryside" with its content revolving around the heart of a child far from home for his homeland through his love for his homeland and the simple but deep love between couples, I will present it to the public on the occasion of the anniversary of Vietnam Music Day on September 3.

Sharing the same sentiment, Ms. Nguyen Hong Van, from the Theater Association, is one of the female artists participating in the writing camp. She shared: The days away from home seem to make the feelings for the beloved homeland even more passionate. Proud of my homeland's traditional art, I have completed the cheo song "Dong Hung, land of love" in the Chuc Cam Hoi Van tune. With smooth lyrics, the song praises the land and people of Dong Hung with its brilliant revolutionary and cultural traditions.

Taking on the role of camp leader and the oldest member participating in the writing camp, Mr. Vu Duy Yen, Literature Association, is now 82 years old but has completed 3 works of memoirs and poems, and actively supported other members to make the writing activities most vibrant and effective. Mr. Vu Duy Yen said: During the days in Ninh Binh, the group visited many places, including Phat Diem stone church - the Catholic church complex considered the most beautiful in Vietnam, hundreds of years old. This inspiration created the circumstances for the birth of the memoir "Ninh Binh Mountain Stone", summarizing the development history of Ninh Binh people in particular, the Vietnamese people in general, always associated with stone. Human life from ancient times to the present cannot be without stone. Stone and people live together, die together, faithfully.

After a period affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, in 2023, in addition to sending members to participate in creative camps of the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations and central professional associations, the Thai Binh Literature and Arts Association actively organized creative camps inside and outside the province, and at the same time, organized creative field trips for members of each branch. In April 2023, 4 branches went on creative field trips, and by the end of June 2023, all remaining branches will also complete their creative field trips.

Attending the closing ceremony of the creative camp in Ninh Binh province after 10 days, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Hang, President of Thai Binh Literature and Arts Association, was pleased with the published works of the members. She shared: The activities of the Association are all aimed at encouraging and promoting the enthusiastic spirit of artistic creativity of the members. From the creative camp in Ninh Binh, the Association will learn from experience in the organization so that the upcoming activities will achieve better results, attract the active participation of many artists, and have more works sent to the public. This year, the Thai Binh Literature and Arts Association will host the Red River Delta Art Photography Festival in August 2023. Therefore, for the Photography Association alone, many exciting activities will be organized so that artists can have a variety of quality photo works about life and people not only in the province but also in neighboring provinces, actively participate in the festival as well as submit to domestic and international competitions to achieve the highest results.

Participating in the creative camp in Ninh Binh province, in addition to the group's general schedule, the photographers visited pottery, bamboo, rattan, sedge mat, embroidery villages... and scenic spots in Thanh Hoa, Nam Dinh, Ninh Binh to hunt for beautiful, unique images. Living and traveling together among the artists has stimulated the spirit of competition and enthusiasm for creation. Among the hundreds of photos taken, the photographers said they have selected quality works to submit to the contest.

Each trip, each journey full of surprises and excitement creates endless inspiration. That is also the precious realistic material for the creation of works of art, recording the passionate and persistent labor process of the artist. Hopefully, in parallel with the actual creative process, bringing works of art to the public will also receive more attention, from which artists will be more dedicated and passionate for each of their brainchildren.
