Accordingly, on business class flights from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho, Phu Quoc, along with international flights to Europe and Australia, Vietnam Airlines will replace the usual dessert with Hung Yen lychee eggs.
The lychee selected by Vietnam Airlines for flights meets VietGAP and 4-star OCOP standards. These lychees are grown in registered areas, are disease-free, do not contain banned pesticides, have food safety certificates from competent authorities, and have clear origins. This is a global standard of good agricultural practices for export to European and Australian markets.
Lychee is one of the famous specialties of Hung Yen province. Currently, the whole province has about 500 hectares of lychee growing, mainly concentrated in Phu Cu and An Thi districts. Hung Yen lychee was recognized by the Intellectual Property Office with a certification mark in 2020 and was ranked as a 4-star OCOP product by the Provincial People's Committee. This fruit is characterized by a thin skin, bright red color, thick and crispy flesh, small seeds, a cool sweet taste and a characteristic aroma. Not only does it have a delicious flavor, lychee contains a lot of vitamin C and essential minerals that are beneficial to health. In recent years, lychee has become a "rich tree" for many Hung Yen farmers.
The fact that lychee – a local specialty – is included on the menu of the national airline is not only a great source of pride, but also brings joy to farmers when their hard work is recognized and flies far with journeys in the sky.
Mr. Mai Van Quyet, Director of Quyet Tien Agricultural Cooperative, Phan Sao Nam Commune (Phu Cu) expressed that this is a recognition of the efforts and hard work of the cooperative members as well as Hung Yen farmers in caring for, preserving and promoting the specialty brand of the province, thereby motivating us to continue to make efforts to improve the quality of our hometown's agricultural products.
Mr. Doan Van Hieu, Director of Hung Yen Lychee Cooperative, Da Loc Commune (An Thi) hopes that bringing lychees on the plane will help promote Hung Yen lychees to more people, not only domestically but also internationally.
Previously, Hung Yen longan was included in the dessert menu in business class by Vietnam Airlines Corporation, served on more than 70 Vietnam Airlines routes, receiving high praise from domestic and foreign passengers.
Mr. Nguyen Van Trang, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Hung Yen province affirmed: This is not only a great honor for farmers and the agricultural sector of the province, but also an affirmation of the brand value of Hung Yen agricultural products in the domestic and international markets. Appearing on "blue sky flights" is not only a recognition of quality and food safety, but also an opportunity to widely promote the flavors of Hung Yen's specialties to domestic and foreign passengers. This event will open up new opportunities in the consumption of agricultural products, motivating farmers to continue clean production. At the same time, it is an important step in the strategy of connecting agricultural products with modern distribution channels, thereby promoting sustainable agricultural development and elevating the brand of Hung Yen agricultural products in the global market.
