Recently, Thai media reported that President of the Football Association of Thailand Nualphan Lamsam (also known as "Madam Pang") supported medical expenses for player Nguyen Xuan Son of the Vietnamese team when he was injured in the second leg of the final match against the home team.
Regarding the above information, VFF said that injuries and first aid at the training ground and the field are the responsibility of the team doctor. After that, other activities are all undertaken by the Organizing Committee according to the tournament regulations.
"After the first day at the hospital in Thailand, through professional exchanges and comprehensive assessments, we decided to bring Xuan Son back to Vietnam for continued treatment. The Football Association of Thailand only provides medical services in accordance with the tournament's regulations. The information in the Thai media that Madam Pang supported the medical expenses for player Nguyen Xuan Son is incorrect," said VFF General Secretary Nguyen Van Phu.
Mr. Nguyen Van Phu, General Secretary of VFF, informed about Xuan Son's treatment costs.
According to VFF, in the second leg of the final match in Thailand, after the team doctor entered the field, the medical staff and ambulance of the Organizing Committee performed the next steps. This is a unified process at the ASEAN Cup stadiums. This is not only the case in Bangkok but also in Viet Tri Stadium.
Xuan Son is in the process of recovery and rehabilitation in Vietnam.
Xuan Son was taken to a hospital in Thailand for examination, the hospital stay and other medical services are all applied according to the tournament's regulations, and the Organizing Committee in Thailand is responsible. Similarly in Vietnam, Viet Tri Stadium has had 4 cases of foreign players injured and taken to Viet Tri General Hospital, the cost of this treatment will be paid by the Organizing Committee of the host Vietnam.
"Regarding Xuan Son's injury (broken tibia and fibula), the surgery of the striker from Nam Dinh Club was completed on the evening of January 6. As of January 9, the "Top scorer" of the ASEAN Cup 2024 has begun receiving rehabilitation support from doctors. The Vietnam Football Federation will cover all treatment costs until Xuan Son recovers" - VFF General Secretary Nguyen Van Phu informed.
