VFF confirms time to introduce coach Philippe Troussier

(CPV) - Coach Philippe Troussier will arrive in Vietnam this weekend and the inauguration ceremony of the new head coach of the Vietnam national team will be held on February 27.

After arranging work, Coach Troussier will come to Vietnam on March 26; then, VFF will hold an introduction ceremony with the French coach on February 27. The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) will sign a contract with Coach Philippe Troussier from March 2023 to July 2026.

Previously, VFF and Coach Troussier also worked on the plans for the Vietnam national team and U23 Vietnam in 2023. The French coach made detailed plans to carry out assigned tasks, and assigned tasks in advance to some assistants in Vietnam to prepare in advance.

The first tournament under the French strategist is the 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia. Coach Troussier's task is to help U22 Vietnam successfully defend the gold medal. At the 32nd SEA Games, Coach Troussier will only have the services of players born in 2001 or later. Therefore, the captain will have to spend more time testing the squad and finding the players most suitable for the tactical scheme.

According to the schedule, the Vietnamese team will gather from March 8 to March 12. There will be about 28 players called up, the core of which will still be the faces who have "fought" in international tournaments in recent times. However, some cases such as Van Toan, Quang Hai, Cong Phuong... who are playing abroad will not be able to gather because it is not the FIFA Days schedule. The main purpose of this gathering is to help the players get used to the new philosophy in the playing style that the new head coach will apply to the team.

Meanwhile, U23 Vietnam will be trained more thoroughly with 4 concentrated stages in March to prepare for SEA Games 32. In stage 1, U23 Vietnam will concentrate on training from March 1 to March 7 with a maximum of 35 players and 5 goalkeepers.

It is known that Coach Troussier will also have a strong team of assistants including 2 French experts, 1 foreign fitness coach and over 10 Vietnamese assistants. Most of the Vietnamese assistants are those who have worked with Mr. Troussier such as Coach Nguyen Viet Thang, Coach Pham Van Thach, Coach Mai Xuan Hop,.../.
