Over the past 80 years, under the leadership of the Party, the Vietnamese people have overcome countless difficulties, won victories in resistance wars, and remained steadfast in the cause of innovation, integration and development. In that common flow, Ho Chi Minh City - the heroic city named after beloved Uncle Ho - has always been a place where strength converges, a locomotive actively contributing to moving the country forward.

80 years ago, in the historic Autumn of 1945, Saigon - Cho Lon and the South rose up to seize power, making a great contribution to the victory of the August Revolution.

Since then, in the resistance war against colonialism and imperialism, Saigon - Gia Dinh has become the "Citadel of the Fatherland", a symbol of the nation's resilience and indomitability. In July 1976, the 6th National Assembly decided to change the name of Saigon - Gia Dinh to Ho Chi Minh City - the city honored to bear the name of the nation's beloved leader. From here, a new journey began, with the responsibility of being the economic locomotive and the international trade gateway of the whole country.

It can be said that looking at Ho Chi Minh City, we can see most clearly the spirit of "dare to think, dare to do" of the whole nation. From a city heavily devastated after the war, the city has become the most dynamic economic center of the country. In recent years, with many resolutions of the Politburo dedicated to it, Ho Chi Minh City has been and continues to be given the responsibility of testing institutions, breaking through infrastructure, promoting knowledge economy, green economy, digital economy.

Not only is Ho Chi Minh City a leader in development, it is also a place where humanity converges. In every incident - from epidemics to natural disasters - the spirit of "a city for the whole country, with the whole country" is always affirmed by actions of sharing and humanity. It is the combination of dynamism, creativity and humanity that has created the image of Ho Chi Minh City as one of the typical symbols of Vietnam's aspirations.

These days, from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City, from the plains to the mountains, from the countryside to the cities, the strength of the nation is converging for a common goal: the 2045 aspiration - to make Vietnam a developed country.

There are still many challenges: global competition, climate change, natural disasters, epidemics, the need for institutional innovation, improving the quality of human resources... but the past 80 years of history have left us a valuable lesson: with solidarity, courage and dedication, the Vietnamese people will overcome them.

The whole nation is welcoming Independence Day and today is not only to commemorate but also to affirm: the responsibility of today's generation is to continue the aspiration for independence with concrete actions. If the previous generation "Determined to die for the Fatherland", then today's generation must "Determined to make the Fatherland strong".

In that journey, Ho Chi Minh City is not only a special city but also a symbol of the desire to break through, a proof that Vietnam's strength always starts from pioneering and spreading. In particular, a new milestone in the city's history is the arrangement and merger of administrative units in the spirit of the National Assembly's Resolution, which has opened up a large, synchronous and modern development space for the city.

The expansion of administrative boundaries helps the city to restructure its development space, harmoniously combining industry, services and high-tech agriculture. This is an important premise for the city to reorganize production, distribute population, and ensure more sustainable and balanced development.

Ho Chi Minh City is also a place where the spirit of humanity converges - always putting the people at the center. Caring for social security, not leaving anyone behind is the beauty of a city with profound human values.

In the context of building a strong country, the combination of dynamism, creativity and humanity of Ho Chi Minh City will be an important highlight contributing to the overall success.

From Hanoi - where Uncle Ho read the Declaration of Independence, to Ho Chi Minh City - the largest city in the country, which is growing strongly and spreading to all regions, Vietnam's strength is converging and shining.
