On September 18th, information from the Traffic Infrastructure Maintenance and Public Passenger Transport Operation Management Board ( Thanh Hoa Department of Transport) indicated that addressing the landslide at Km 88+750 - Km 88+810/QL15C is still facing many difficulties due to weather conditions.
Authorities have temporarily restored the road surface with soil to allow vehicles to pass through the landslide area.
"The heavy and prolonged rain has made it difficult to temporarily backfill the road surface on the embankment side. Every time we fill it with soil, it becomes muddy when it gets wet," said Mr. Hoang Van Tuyen, Deputy Director of the Department of Maintenance of Transportation Works and Operation of Public Passenger Transport.
Traffic inspectors guide and ensure safe traffic flow for people.
Regarding this issue, Mr. Pham Van Tuan, Deputy Director of the Thanh Hoa Department of Transport, said that currently only motorbikes belonging to residents living around the area are allowed to travel. The Department is assigning the maintenance team to coordinate with the Vietnam Road Administration to take prompt action as there are fears of further landslides in the area of the Pu Nhi Border Guard Post on the uphill side.
It is known that in July and August and under the influence of storm No. 3, in Thanh Hoa there was moderate rain, heavy rain, and in some places very heavy rain, causing landslides and damaging road traffic infrastructure on National Highways 15, 16, 15C, 217...
Due to the impact of heavy rain and flooding, two-thirds of the road surface of National Highway 15C passing through Pu Nhi commune has been eroded.
Specifically, at Km 88+750 - Km 88+810 on National Highway 15C, passing through Pù Nhi commune, Mường Lát district, landslides occurred on both the uphill and downhill slopes, causing road surface collapse and the destruction of a house.
Immediately after receiving the report from the Thanh Hoa Department of Transport, the Ministry of Transport announced a natural disaster emergency to respond to and repair the damage to the transport infrastructure in this area. At the same time, the Vietnam Road Administration is directing the Department of Transport to implement remedial measures.
However, Typhoon No. 3 caused further landslides in the area, damaging 2/3 of the road surface with landslides approximately 3 meters deep and 60 meters long. Therefore, the Thanh Hoa Department of Transport is requesting adjustments to the solution to address the additional damage and ensure safety.
Currently, according to the Thanh Hoa Department of Transport, because the road surface restoration has not yet been completed, heavy-duty vehicles are still being directed to use National Highway 16 to reach the center of Muong Lat and vice versa.
