Back then, there weren't many options for part-time jobs. I worked as a tutor or collaborated at an English language center, or maybe helped out at a restaurant. There were no "easy jobs with high pay" like just sitting at home liking, sharing, or commenting to earn money.
Never be complacent, and certainly don't be overconfident in your abilities. Scammers always know how to understand and manipulate psychology; just one moment of carelessness and you'll easily fall into their trap.
When I worked part-time, there were also "ghost" services and companies, but they didn't scam students on the same scale as they do now in this high-tech era. With the development of social media, students have more job opportunities. It's even possible to make money effortlessly, like creating content on social media platforms. If the content is good and relevant, it can go viral, and with a large number of subscribers, you can earn passive income.
But I always warn students not to chase likes and views at all costs and create harmful content on social media. Spiritual nourishment, if not provided by those with integrity, can cause significant harm to the community. This can be verified on many social media platforms today, where countless harmful and toxic contents are openly available.
Especially with offers of "easy jobs with high salaries" or unsecured loans with no verification required, even those offering large sums, you must be extra cautious. I cite cases of people being scammed online, not because they lacked any information about high-tech fraud, but because they still fell for it, losing hundreds of billions of dong.
You might argue that you don't have much money in your account to worry about! But being psychologically manipulated, intimidated, or having your account hijacked to scam others is entirely possible. Scammers targeting students are not uncommon because they know you need part-time jobs to cover your tuition. More dangerously, it doesn't stop at scams; sometimes you're lured into unethical or illegal activities, and by the time you realize it, it's too late, and there's little chance of making amends.
Good and bad coexist in life, so there's no need to be overly pessimistic or fearful when looking at it. Caution is never superfluous. I always remind you of this and I also urge you to read the news to stay informed, learn more skills to avoid scams, or if you do fall into one, know how to handle it to minimize damage.
Sometimes it's the flawed intentions within each person, perhaps greed, or sometimes naivety and gullibility, that lead us astray. Don't let the money in your account sprout wings before you regret it – by then it will be too late!
