According to information posted on the website of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST), in the first 9 months of the year, Vietnam welcomed 8.9 million international visitors, exceeding the initial target of 8 million visitors set for the whole year of 2023.

Mr. Doan Van Viet, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said that this result comes from "positive changes in world and regional tourism trends". In addition, Vietnam has open and transparent policies. In the remaining months, Vietnam can welcome about 1.2 million visitors per month. In the peak month of December, the number of visitors may be higher.

Therefore, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has calculated and will report to the Government to raise the target of welcoming international tourists in 2023 from 8 million to 12.5-13 million visitors.

According to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the calculation to set the target of welcoming international tourists must be based on many factors and just one change in factor can make the forecast result not accurate. However, this "error" is in a positive direction, Vietnam has exceeded the set target. The increased target of welcoming tourists in the year can create motivation for businesses to further promote attracting international tourists, improve service quality, diversify products, improve infrastructure, and relevant agencies create more favorable conditions for visas...

In early 2023, Thailand also increased its target of welcoming international visitors from 10 million to 30 million when favorable conditions appeared. Indonesia also made similar adjustments when it realized that the forecast data at the beginning of the year was no longer suitable for the actual situation.
