Vietnam won Gold Medal at International Olympiad in Informatics

On September 1, the Ministryof Education and Training (MOET) received information about the official results of the Vietnam National Team (4 students) participating in the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) 2023.

As a result, all 4 students won medals, including: 1 Gold Medal, 2 Silver Medals, 1 Bronze Medal.

Nguyen Ngoc Dang Khoa, 11th grade student, High School for Gifted Students in Natural Sciences , University of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, Hanoi: Gold Medal;

Tran Xuan Bach, 12th grade student, High School for Gifted Students in Natural Sciences, University of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, Hanoi and Nguyen Duc Thang, 11th grade student, Hung Vuong High School for Gifted Students, Phu Tho province: Silver Medal;

Nguyen Quang Minh, 12th grade student, High School for Gifted Students in Natural Sciences, University of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, Hanoi: Bronze Medal.

The 35th IOI exam will be held in person from August 28 to September 4, 2023 in Szeged, Hungary.

The IOI 2023 competition was officially attended by 351 candidates from 89 countries and territories. As a result, 178 candidates won medals (30 gold medals, 58 silver medals and 90 bronze medals), accounting for 50.7% of the total number of candidates participating, and 40 candidates were awarded certificates of merit.

With 100% of the contestants winning medals, the Vietnam National IOI Team is in the group of 9 countries and territories with high results according to the Medal Ranking after China, the US, Japan, Korea, Israel,...

According to the regulations of the IOI Council 2023, the International Olympiad in Informatics has 2 official competition days. On each competition day, candidates will take a 5-hour computer programming test and solve 3 problems with rich content.

The results are automatically graded online and the live scoreboard is announced throughout the two days of the exam. This year's exam is considered more difficult than previous years and has some unusual types of problems that require candidates to apply knowledge flexibly and be highly creative.
