Lao Cai to recruit nearly 2,000 education career officials by 2025

GD&TĐ - The People's Committee of Lao Cai province has just issued a plan to recruit 1,958 civil servants for the Education and Training sector in 2025.

According to the report of the Education sector, as of July 31, 2025, Lao Cai province has 32,714 positions assigned to educational public service units under the Department of Education and Training and the People's Committees of communes and wards. Of which, the number of current employees is 29,645 people; there is a shortage of 3,069 positions, including 2,405 teachers and 664 staff.

In order to supplement human resources with professional qualifications and skills, meeting the requirements of teaching and operating the public education system, on October 21, 2025, the People's Committee of Lao Cai province issued a plan on recruiting educational career civil servants in 2025. Accordingly, the total number of positions to be recruited is 1,958, mainly concentrated in kindergartens, primary schools and secondary schools in the province.

The document clearly states the cases that are not eligible to apply, including those who have lost or have limited civil capacity; those who are being prosecuted for criminal liability, serving a sentence or decision of the Court; and those who are subject to administrative measures of being sent to a medical facility, educational facility or reformatory school.

Recruitment is carried out through an exam or selection process, divided into two rounds. Round 1: general knowledge test in the form of multiple choice tests on a computer (for exams) or test of admission conditions (for selection). Round 2: test of specialized professional subjects according to job position requirements.

After the merger, the Department of Education and Training of Lao Cai province was established on the basis of merging two previous departments of education and training. In the context of transition, the local education sector has made efforts to stabilize the organizational structure, maintain the operational efficiency of 1,045 educational institutions, with more than 15,300 classrooms and nearly 470,000 students studying in the whole province.
