In the first 6 months of 2024, Vietnam rose to become the leading country in garment export market share in the US market, reaching 6 billion USD.
Over the past two days, nearly 30 Vietnamese textile and fashion enterprises participated in the TexWorld New York 2024 Fair. This is the first time Vietnamese enterprises have participated in one of the prestigious textile and garment fairs in the world, leaving many impressions and positive signals.
"Vietnamese textiles - A better choice globally" is what Vietnamese enterprises conveyed at the fair, and it has attracted many potential partners.
"The quality of the products is very good. I had no idea they were so handmade and skilled. The prices are very competitive and will sell well in the US market. And the most surprising thing is that there are so many product designs that can be produced in Vietnam that not everyone knows about," said Ken Kangal, a fashion businessman.
2023 is considered the most difficult year in more than 30 years of export of Vietnam's textile and garment industry. Post-pandemic consumption demand decreased and high inflation affected. Enterprises had to find new markets, change business methods and proactively create new sources of raw materials in a green and sustainable direction. Fabrics made from coffee grounds, pineapple peels and lotus silk were born from that.
Ms. Tran Hoang Phu Xuan - Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh City Textile - Garment - Embroidery - Knitting Association said: "New capacities such as new material cutting capacity as well as green production capacity, production of new materials for the textile and garment industry. These are the efforts that we have strived for over the years to be able to position ourselves in the global textile and garment supply chain."
After efforts, in the first 6 months of 2024, Vietnam rose to become the leading country in garment export market share in the US market, reaching 6 billion USD. And to maintain this position in the coming time, promoting direct approach to customers is an important factor.
Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung - Chief Representative of the Vietnam Trade Promotion Office in New York, USA said: "This is both an opportunity and a challenge for us. Because other export competitors will also look to us to increase export speed. Therefore, holding the area tightly, as well as promoting and boosting the brand of the Vietnamese textile industry in particular, and export products in general, need to be further strengthened".
With inherent strengths in price and product quality, and an official presence at one of the most prestigious textile fairs in the world , Vietnamese textiles continue to create a competitive advantage in the US market.
Many businesses present at this fair shared that they have orders until the end of the third quarter and are negotiating for the fourth quarter - the main shopping season for Christmas, Black Friday and New Year.
