On October 25, at the United Nations (UN) headquarters in New York, the 60th Anniversary of the founding of the "G77 Group and China" took place.
Attending the event were President of the UN General Assembly Philemon Yang and Ambassadors of G77 member countries and China at the world's largest multilateral organization.
According to a VNA correspondent in New York, speaking at the event, Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang, Head of the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the UN, affirmed that the G77 and China Group is one of the most important groups at the UN, not only because of the largest number of members but also because of the spirit of solidarity in promoting economic and development priorities for developing countries.
At the 2023 Sustainable Development Summit and the 2024 Future Summit, the Group promoted a common stance, defending the interests and priorities of developing countries in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals, as well as mobilizing finance and implementation methods to achieve these goals.
In the coming time, Vietnam proposes to continue promoting the priorities and needs of the G77 Group and China at major UN processes, enhancing South-South cooperation to support each other in the development process and enhancing working methods, while still upholding traditional values to improve the group's operational efficiency.
Vietnam is proud to be one of the founding members of the G77 Group and China, affirming that it will continue to make active and substantial contributions to the group's common work, in the spirit of cooperation, friendship, and promoting multilateralism.
