Swimmer Nguyen Huy Hoang won 4 gold medals at the National Championship

Vietnam's number 1 male swimmer Nguyen Huy Hoang maintained his form to win his 4th gold medal at this year's National Swimming Championship.

On the evening of October 8, the 2025 National Swimming Championship continued to take place at My Dinh Aquatics Palace (Hanoi) with many final competitions.

In the men's 200m freestyle final, swimmer Nguyen Huy Hoang (Quang Tri) finished first with a time of 1:50"13, winning the gold medal. Meanwhile, young athlete Tran Van Nguyen Quoc ( Da Nang ) finished second with a time of 1:50"42, winning the silver medal. The bronze medal went to Nguyen Viet Tuong (Da Nang, 1:51"52) and Nguyen Quang Thuan (Army) finished fourth (1:51"64).

This is the fourth individual gold medal that the swimmer from Quang Binh has won at this year's tournament. Previously, Huy Hoang won the 400m freestyle, 800m freestyle and 1,500m freestyle.

Meanwhile, 16-year-old Nguyen Thuy Hien (Army) defeated Pham Thi Van (Thanh Hoa) and Nguyen Diep Phuong Tram (Ho Chi Minh City) to win the gold medal in the women's 50m butterfly with a time of 27.34. In this event, Nguyen Kha Nhi (Ho Chi Minh City) finished 5th.

On the competition day, athlete Vo Thi My Tien (Tay Ninh) continued to win the women's 200m freestyle (2'02"03) and women's 200m breaststroke (2'41"45). In both events, My Tien beat her direct pursuer, Nguyen Thuy Hien. Thuy Hien won the silver medals in the events with the results of 2'03"36 (200m freestyle) and 2'41"45 (200m breaststroke) respectively.

In the men's 200m breaststroke final, Pham Thanh Bao (Vinh Long) won the gold medal with a time of 2:13"47. Former national athlete Nguyen Huu Kim Son (Da Nang) finished second in the event (2:18"81).

Luong Jeremie Loic Nino (Ho Chi Minh City) failed to win the gold medal in the men's 50m butterfly after losing to Nguyen Hoang Khang (Vinh Long) with a time of 24.23. Luong Jeremie Loic Nino won the silver medal (24.50) and Hoang Quy Phuoc (Da Nang, 25.31) received the bronze medal.

Ho Chi Minh City swimming team won only 1 more gold medal on the competition day with the championship result of women's 4x100m freestyle relay (3'54"31). Da Nang team won the championship of men's 4x100m relay (3'26"27).

October 8th is the penultimate day of the tournament. Ho Chi Minh City team is still temporarily leading with 10 gold medals, 7 silver medals, 10 bronze medals. Second place is Tay Ninh team, third place is Army, fourth place is Quang Tri.
