Swimmer Nguyen Huy Hoang won his second gold medal at the National Swimming Championship.

Swimmer Nguyen Huy Hoang brought home two consecutive gold medals in his forte events at the 2025 National Swimming Championship.

On the afternoon of October 6, in the men's 400m freestyle event, swimmer Nguyen Huy Hoang finished first with a time of 3 minutes 52 seconds 21. Following him were Tran Van Nguyen Quoc (3 minutes 53 seconds 83) and Nguyen Viet Tuong (3 minutes 56 seconds 13).

This is Nguyen Huy Hoang's second gold medal for the Quang Tri team at the 2025 National Swimming Championship. Previously, on October 5, Huy Hoang won the men's 1,500m freestyle gold medal with a time of 15 minutes 35 seconds 34. With Huy Hoang's two gold medals, the Quang Tri swimming team rose to 4th place on the medal tally.

Nguyen Huy Hoang, born in 2000, is the most talented male swimmer in Vietnamese swimming, winning a silver medal at the 2018 Asian Games in the men's 1,500m freestyle. From 2017 to the present, Huy Hoang has always won gold medals in his strong events at the SEA Games.

In early October, Nguyen Huy Hoang made history for Vietnamese swimming when he won two gold medals at the 2025 Asian Swimming Championships in India, in the 800m and 1,500m distances.

In the men's 100m backstroke, former national athlete Tran Duy Khoi (HCMC) finished first with a time of 56.57 seconds. In the men's 100m butterfly, Hoang Quy Phuoc ( Da Nang ) finished second with a time of 55.26 seconds, behind the leader, teammate Nguyen Viet Tuong (55.12 seconds).

Also on the competition day today, athlete Vo Thi My Tien ( Tay Ninh ) broke the 11-year national record of Nguyen Thi Anh Vien in the women's 100m butterfly event. Accordingly, My Tien finished first with a time of 1 minute 0.64 seconds. Anh Vien's previous record in this distance was 1 minute 0.69 seconds.

The 2025 National Swimming Championship takes place from October 4 to October 9 at My Dinh Aquatics Palace (Hanoi).

On the rankings up to this point, the Ho Chi Minh City team is temporarily leading with 7 gold medals, 4 silver medals, 6 bronze medals. Following is the Army team with 5 gold medals, 7 silver medals, 3 bronze medals.
