Vietnam and Argentina hold 9th Political Consultation

According to a VNA reporter in Buenos Aires, on the first day of working in Argentina, Deputy Minister Ha Kim Ngoc led a delegation with Ambassador Ngo Minh Nguyet and embassy officials and staff to lay flowers at the statue of President Ho Chi Minh in the capital Buenos Aires.

At the Political Consultation, the two sides agreed to further strengthen the Vietnam-Argentina Comprehensive Partnership, promote negotiations and signing of additional agreements to create a more favorable legal framework for multifaceted cooperation between the two countries, including the Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement and the Investment Protection Agreement. The two sides agreed that the economies of Vietnam and Argentina have many complementary points, and agreed to further strengthen cooperation in agriculture, trade, aviation, tourism, investment, clean energy and essential minerals in the coming time. On the basis of the traditional good political relationship, the two sides agreed to continue promoting defense and security cooperation and strengthening relations between regional organizations of which both sides are members such as the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the Southern Common Market (MECOSUR).

Deputy Minister Ha Kim Ngoc suggested that Argentina continue to provide more Spanish language scholarships for young Vietnamese diplomats and further strengthen cooperation in sports, culture and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries. The Deputy Minister affirmed that Vietnam supports and is ready to contribute to further promoting relations between Argentina and MECOSUR with ASEAN.

For her part, Argentine Deputy Foreign Minister Marcia Rosa Levaggi expressed her impression of Vietnam's socio-economic development achievements. Deputy Minister Gabriel Martinez affirmed that during her term as MECOSUR President next year, Argentina will promote negotiations on a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between MECOSUR and Vietnam.

Regarding regional and international issues of mutual concern, the two sides shared the view that it is necessary to continue to coordinate closely at multilateral forums and support each other's candidacy for important United Nations (UN) agencies. At the same time, the two sides also agreed on the importance of maintaining peace, stability, freedom, security and safety of navigation and aviation in the East Sea, and resolving disputes by peaceful means on the basis of international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).

In addition to the Political Consultation, Deputy Minister Ha Kim Ngoc met with the Argentine Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Religious Affairs Diana Mondino; met with Senator Bartolome Esteban Abdala, Acting President of the Senate; Congressman Santiago Pauli, Chairman of the Vietnam-Argentina Friendship Parliamentary Group, and received Ms. Poldi Sosa, Director of the Vietnam-Argentina Cultural Institute.

At meetings with leaders of the Argentine Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Assembly, Deputy Minister Ha Kim Ngoc affirmed that Vietnam considers Argentina one of the most important partners in the Latin American region. The Deputy Minister conveyed the invitation of senior leaders of the Vietnamese Party and State to President Javier Milei to visit Vietnam soon. Appreciating the important results of visits and exchanges of delegations at all levels between the two countries in recent times, the Deputy Minister suggested that the two sides continue to promote exchanges of high-level delegations in the coming time.

Regarding the proposal of Deputy Minister Ha Kim Ngoc, Argentine Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Religious Affairs Diana Elena Mondino, leaders of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and members of the Argentine National Assembly affirmed that they will closely coordinate with Vietnam to promote this.

On this occasion, Deputy Minister Ha Kim Ngoc and the delegation worked with Ambassador Ngo Minh Nguyet and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in Argentina. The Vietnamese Embassy in Argentina also presented the delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the amount of money raised during the campaign to support people affected by storm No. 3 (Yagi storm).
