VietinBank expands cross-border payments to Laos

Following Thailand, Laos becomes the next destination for the cross-border QR payment service pioneered by VietinBank .

Laos - The land of Champa flowers with its unique culture and special architecture is a favorite tourist destination of many Vietnamese tourists. With the goal of bringing a better experience to Vietnamese tourists when exploring the land of Champa flowers, VietinBank has pioneered the implementation of cross-border payment services via QR codes. Accordingly, VietinBank customers only need to use the VietinBank iPay application and a VND payment account to easily pay for services and goods in Laos without having to buy foreign currency in advance. The payment limit per transaction is up to nearly 500 million VND, meeting the diverse shopping and travel needs of customers. In particular, customers will enjoy extremely preferential exchange rates when using the service. VietinBank's QR code payment service in Laos has currently been accepted by 14 banks in the country of a million elephants. The list of banks accepting payment will be continuously expanded by VietinBank in the coming time to increasingly increase customer experience. Previously, in early 2024, VietinBank brought QR payment service via VietinBank iPay to Thailand. It is estimated that on average, there are thousands of payment transactions via VietinBank's Thai QR service each month. Initially, customers have had positive feedback when experiencing the service. Based on the experience of implementing cross-border payments via QR codes in Laos and Thailand, VietinBank will continue to make pioneering efforts to develop the service to many other countries in the region such as: China, Japan, Korea... To identify QR codes in Laos that can be paid via VietinBank iPay, customers can refer to the following identification signs: The payment QR code will have both the logo of the bank accepting the payment, the logo of LAPNet - the switching organization providing the service in Laos, and especially will not have a photo of the account owner (only personal QR codes have a photo of the account owner).
