VinES and Marubeni cooperate in applying energy storage batteries

Hanoi VinES - a member of Vingroup , plans to work with Marubeni Green Power to research, invest, and install battery energy storage systems (BESS) in Vietnam.

Under the cooperation agreement, Marubeni will conduct an assessment survey with VinES, then invest, install and operate BESS at many business locations of Vingroup's companies. The BESS system is considered an energy-saving solution, load balancing and smart power management. BESS can also be expanded to integrate with renewable energy systems, promoting Vingroup's transition to clean energy.

VinES will be the manufacturer and supplier of BESS solutions for Marubeni to implement the project. Marubeni is expected to invest up to tens of MWh of capacity for BESS systems in the initial phase and expand the scale in the following phases.

Ms. Pham Thuy Linh - General Director of VinES said that this cooperation process affirms Vingroup's commitment to the conversion to clean and smart energy use. The cooperation marks the two giants sharing the same goal of promoting the application of BESS in Vietnam, while demonstrating the vision of green energy as well as the ability to provide products and services, meeting the requirements of energy development investors.

"With our current production capacity, supply chain and R&D team, we are confident to be the only and pioneering unit in product development, manufacturing and providing BESS solutions right in the Vietnamese market, committed to contributing to the clean energy transition in our country as well as globally," Ms. Linh shared.

Meanwhile, Mr. Yuji Otsuka - Chairman and Director of Marubeni Green Power assessed Vingroup as a major partner in Vietnam. The cooperation between the two sides aims to create many solutions in the application of BESS systems. The cooperation model between VinES and Marubeni's solution manufacturer and BESS investor and operator is also expected to be a premise for Vietnamese enterprises to access and apply BESS in business operations, promoting policies towards carbon neutrality.

Marubeni has experience in various fields in Vietnam - the company's long-standing key market. In the energy sector, Marubeni has participated in the investment, construction and operation of more than 12 thermal power projects since the 1970s and has started supplying renewable energy to commercial and industrial customers since 2021.

VinES is a comprehensive energy solutions provider and a major BESS system manufacturer in Vietnam. The company focuses on research, development and production of lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles, energy storage systems and other applications. Prior to Marubeni, VinES has partnered with Altinay Elektromobilite, a Turkish energy company, to provide comprehensive energy storage solutions in the Turkish market.
