Honoring 2 national intangible cultural heritages of Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest

Knowledge of exploiting and processing bird's nests and the Bird's Nest Festival are two national intangible cultural heritages of the bird's nest industry in Khanh Hoa.

On the evening of June 4, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Khanh Hoa coordinated with Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest Company to organize a ceremony to honor the National Cultural Heritage of Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest.

This event is part of the series of activities of the Khanh Hoa Sea Culture and Tourism Festival 2025, aiming to honor the traditional cultural values ​​of the profession of exploiting and processing bird's nests, associated with the sacred sea and islands of the Fatherland.

The ceremony honored Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest Exploitation and Processing Knowledge and Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest Festival, two categories that have been included in the list of national intangible cultural heritage by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

This is also an opportunity to pay tribute to our ancestors, the Holy Mother and our predecessors who opened and developed the bird's nest industry, thereby passing on to future generations a treasure trove of knowledge imbued with the traditional cultural identity of Khanh Hoa.

Mr. Nguyen Tan Tuan - Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee - said that being recognized as a National Heritage is not only a great honor for Khanh Hoa province but also a testament to the cultural, historical and quintessence values ​​that the bird's nest industry has nurtured over many generations.

"The community's mission is to preserve the heritage forever, to reach further, so that the priceless values ​​can spread strongly in the hearts of Khanh Hoa people and spread to all domestic and international tourists" - Mr. Tuan said.

To date, Khanh Hoa province has 6 national intangible cultural heritages including Ponagar Tower Festival, Raglai people's grave abandonment ceremony, Cau Ngu festival, Agarwood exploitation and processing knowledge, Khanh Hoa bird's nest exploitation and processing knowledge, Khanh Hoa bird's nest festival.
