VN-Index hits new peak, foreign investors return to net buying after upgrade news

On October 8, the stock market exploded after the FTSE Russell upgraded it. Strong demand at the opening pushed the VN-Index up past 1,730 points. However, profit-taking pressure appeared, slowing down the increase and gradually narrowing it. At the end of the session, the VN-Index increased by 12.53 points to 1,697.83 points.

The VN-Index had the highest closing level in the 25-year history of Vietnamese stocks.

Market liquidity increased sharply compared to yesterday's session, with total trading volume on the three floors reaching more than 1,219 million shares, equivalent to a total trading value of more than VND36,399 billion.

Foreign investors reversed to net buy on all 3 floors 75.66 billion VND, focusing on codes GEX (264.1 billion VND), MWG (254.85 billion VND), HPG (179.59 billion VND), VCB (130.45 billion VND), STB (108.14 billion VND)...

On the contrary, the stocks with the most net sales in this session includedSHB (151.02 billion VND), VRE (148.91 billion VND), MSN (131.96 billion VND), VCI (109.49 billion VND), MBB (108.95 billion VND)...

On the HoSE floor, the matched order value this session increased compared to the previous session, reaching more than 31,309 billion VND.

This session, the codes that contributed positively to the VN-Index increasing by 12.44 points included: VHM, VCB, CTG, VNM, MWG, GEE, VRE, STB,ACB , HPG.

On the contrary, the codes that negatively impacted the VN-Index by more than 3.66 points included: VIC, TCB, LPB,FPT , VGC, VIB, VSC, BID, DIG, PNJ.

* At the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange, the VN-Index closed up 12.53 points (+0.74%) to 1,697.83 points. Liquidity reached over 1,067.42 million units, equivalent to a trading value of over VND33,207.79 billion. The entire floor had 181 stocks increasing, 70 stocks remaining unchanged and 121 stocks decreasing.

The VN30 Index increased by 13.3 points (+0.7%) and stopped at 1,922.95 points. Liquidity reached more than 483.96 million units, equivalent to a transaction value of more than VND 18,568.04 billion. The VN30 group of stocks ended the trading day with 19 stocks increasing, 4 stocks remaining unchanged and 7 stocks decreasing.
