People's Artist Hoang Yen in the role of Ho Xuan Huong

The Ho Chi Minh City Youth World Theater has announced the schedule for the play "Poet Ho Xuan Huong" including: Ho Chi Minh City University of Education (March 6), University of Culture (March 7), Academy of Politics (March 23), University of Technical Education (April 5). This is a performance series to help young audiences who love literature understand more about the difficult life of Ho Xuan Huong.

This is a script by author Nguyen Duc Minh, directed by People's Artist Trinh Thuy Mui - President of Vietnam Stage Artists Association.

In the play, the artists recreated the tearful life of poetess Ho Xuan Huong. Notably, besides the dialogue, there were about 20 famous poems by Ho Xuan Huong inserted into the dramatic situations.

The play partly recreates the life of Ho Xuan Huong. She dared to love, dared to fight for women and protect what she considered right and loved dearly.

The most enjoyable part of the performance was that the audience had the opportunity to witness her love affair with Nguyen Du - her first love but deeply in the heart of the character Ho Xuan Huong.

Meritorious Artist Ca Le Hong - member of the Arts Council of the Department of Culture and Information of Ho Chi Minh City commented that, overcoming the fate that society has given to women, poetess Ho Xuan Huong has become a symbol of female intellectuals, using her pen to fight against tyranny. The profound criticisms of a society "neither mandarin nor lord" in her poems still live on over time.
