VTVgo officially becomes national digital television platform

On the afternoon of June 5, at the regular press conference of the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC), the national digital television platform VTVgo was officially launched.

Speaking at the press conference, Mr. Pham Anh Chien - Deputy Director of the Center for Digital Content Production and Development, VTV said that the VTVgo platform was chosen by the Ministry of Information and Communications to become a national digital platform. This is also the result of the long-term, visionary digital transformation process of VTV.

"Currently, VTVgo has become one of the pillars in VTV's Digital Transformation Strategy, with more than 8 million regular users, including 6 million users on mobile devices and 2 million users on smart TVs," said Mr. Pham Anh Chien.

With smart devices installed with VTVgo, people can easily watch all 7 essential national television channels, including channels: VTV1 of Vietnam Television; VTC1 of VTC Digital Television; Vnews of Vietnam News Agency; ANTV of the Ministry of Public Security ; QPVN of the Ministry of National Defense; QHVN of the National Assembly Office and Nhan Dan TV channel of Nhan Dan Newspaper.

Mr. Pham Anh Chien said that the fact that essential national and local television channels were put on the national digital television platform VTVgo has contributed to spreading political television programs of Radio and Television Stations to domestic and foreign audiences, promoting the role of key press agencies, contributing to widely promoting the cultural values of the country and people of Vietnam to all people in the country and international friends.

"The goal of developing the national digital television platform VTVgo is to connect and promote television operating units and provincial and municipal Radio and Television Stations to promote digital transformation, using the digital television platform to transmit many political and orthodox contents, limiting the impact of bad information and fake news on cyberspace, " said Mr. Chien.

Reducing the use of uncontrolled cross-border TV platforms

With the support of the Ministry of Information and Communications, in recent times, VTV has continued to connect to bring essential local television channels to the national digital television platform VTVgo to extend its reach and serve a wide audience in the country and around the world. With the participation of local Radio and Television Stations, the content on the national digital television platform will be diverse and rich, from news to entertainment, general information and in-depth information.

Sharing about the launch of VTVgo, Mr. Nguyen Ha Yen - Deputy Director of the Department of Radio and Television, commented that the launch of the national digital television platform VTVgo is very meaningful - it is the hope that Vietnamese people can widely use domestic television broadcasting services, reducing the use of difficult-to-control cross-border television platforms.

In the coming time, the national digital television platform VTVgo will continue to invest, upgrade the technology system, optimize the personalization feature of user experience. With the promotion of the Ministry of Information and Communications, the companionship of local Radio and Television Stations, and major content production units across the country, the national digital television platform VTVgo will grow stronger and better serve the essential information and entertainment needs of the Vietnamese people, gradually competing with international digital platforms.

"By 2024, we hope to have 63 local TV channels on the VTVgo platform, aiming to bring the VTVgo button to control smart TVs, working together to protect national sovereignty in digital space," said Mr. Pham Anh Chien.
