The Ngoc Linh and Lai Chau ginseng planting project is being implemented by Truong Sinh International Science Development Company Limited (Truong Sinh Group) in cooperation with Sao Do Tay Bac Joint Stock Company and partners of the Singapore ABB fund in Sa De Phin commune, Sin Ho district, Lai Chau province from 2022 on an area of 15,000 m2. The project uses modern greenhouse and net house technology imported from Japan to help managers regulate appropriate light and humidity during the process of planting and caring for nearly 400,000 Ngoc Linh and Lai Chau ginseng plants. From this result, it is aimed at screening and selecting healthy, disease-free parent plants.
Mr. Le Quang Trung - Deputy General Director of Sao Do Tay Bac Joint Stock Company said: The goal of the parties participating in the project is to create a high-tech seed center to master the technology of cultivating precious ginseng varieties, ensuring disease-free plants with high saponin content. As for Ngoc Linh ginseng, when planted here in 2022, we took seeds from village 2, Tra Linh commune, Nam Tra My district, Quang Nam province with many different ages. After more than 3 years of planting and careful care, Ngoc Linh ginseng here is currently growing very well, with a survival rate of over 90% and is all flowering.
In parallel with the implementation of the Ngoc Linh and Lai Chau ginseng planting project in Sin Ho district, the enterprises have created stable jobs for dozens of workers who are Mong Hoa ethnic minorities. In particular, through the association of planting and caring for ginseng, people have been trained in techniques to later become satellites of the enterprise in planting and preserving precious ginseng varieties.
Ms. Sung Thi So (residing in Sang Phin village, Sa De Phin commune, Sin Ho district, Lai Chau province) said: Her family is a poor household in the locality, so life has many difficulties. In 2022, when the Ngoc Linh ginseng and Lai Chau ginseng planting project was implemented, she and many other households in the village were recruited by the enterprise to take care of the ginseng gardens.
Ms. Giang Thi Lan (also residing in Sang Phin village, Sa De Phin commune) happily told us: “Working here, on average, each person receives 200,000 VND in salary per day. The money earned has helped make family life less difficult.”
The model of growing Ngoc Linh ginseng and Lai Chau ginseng in Sa De Phin commune has initially achieved quite impressive results. Therefore, the parties participating in the project plan to continue developing these two ginseng varieties from now until the end of 2025 to increase from 800 thousand to 1 million plants.
Mr. Phan Thanh Thien - General Director of Truong Sinh International Science Development Company Limited shared: "With the similarity in soil and climate between Lai Chau province and Gia Lai province, in the near future, we plan to continue to survey to implement the project of planting Ngoc Linh ginseng and Lai Chau ginseng in Kbang district with a scale of planting several million trees to supply the Vietnamese ginseng market".

In further discussion with reporters, Mr. Nguyen Nam Hai - Director of Gia Lai Department of Science and Technology initially commented: "Although more time is needed to evaluate the effectiveness of the model, the implementation of a similar model in Gia Lai province is reasonable and appropriate, helping us exploit rare medicinal resources, contributing to socio-economic development, improving the lives of people, especially ethnic minorities when participating in the project".
