Regarding the case of fake MSG, cooking oil, seasoning powder, and broth powder, the Investigation Police Agency of Phu Tho Province Police is temporarily detaining Nguyen Van Hung - director of Famimoto Vietnam Co., Ltd. - to investigate the act of producing fake food products.
According to Tuoi Tre Online 's research, Famimoto Vietnam Co., Ltd. was established in March 2019.
Initially, Famimoto Company was named Family Food Production and Trading Company Limited, located at Team 12, Trung Vuong Commune, Viet Tri City, Phu Tho Province.
Director, legal representative is Mr. Nguyen Van Hung (born in 1980).
The main business line is the production of other foods not elsewhere classified; other registered business lines include processing and preserving aquatic products and aquatic products; processing and preserving vegetables and fruits; producing starch and starch products; producing prepared dishes and foods...
By 2022, Family Food Production and Trading Company Limited will change its name to Famimoto Vietnam Company Limited.

Tuoi Tre Online 's investigation shows that from 2019 to the end of 2024, Gia Dinh Food Production and Trading Company Limited, later Famimoto Vietnam Company Limited, submitted self-declaration documents for many food products such as MSG, cooking oil, seasoning powder, sugar, salt, broth powder... to the Food Safety and Hygiene Department of Phu Tho province. Specifically:
- 2019: Family "S" seasoning; Hung Vuong seasoning; Food additives: Famimoto MSG.
- 2020: Hong Viet Kitchen Seasoning; Vietnam Golden Sugar; Vietnam White Sugar.
- 2021: Hanoi premium seasoning powder, Family brand; KOOKIES seasoning powder; ROYAL TASTE sunflower oil; EPPEN MSG; FuFeng MSG; Premica sunflower oil; OG + Brand MSG.
- 2022: Monosodium Glutamate (MSG) - Monosodium Glutamate Famimoto; Monosodium Glutamate (MSG) - Monosodium Glutmate Famimoto+; Royal premium cooking oil.
- 2023: Clean salt; Salt grains; Boat Brand premium cooking oil; Boat Brand monosodium glutamate.
- 2024: Fami Gold vegetable oil; soybean oil - Boat Brand, Boat Brand seasoning powder, Ha Chau Joint Venture seasoning powder, Ha Chau Joint Venture iodine seasoning powder.
According to the provisions of Decree 15/2018 of the Government detailing the implementation of a number of articles of the Law on Food Safety, immediately after self-declaring a product, organizations and individuals are entitled to produce and trade the product and are fully responsible for the safety of that product.
According to Phu Tho Provincial Police, Nguyen Van Hung initially confessed that he bought MSG and cooking oil from Quang Thanh Trading Company Limited (in Hanoi), then divided and packaged them into two types of packaging labeled "Boat Brand MSG - a brand from Singapore", and "Famimoto MSG - the leading MSG brand in Vietnam, Japanese technology".
With cooking oil, after purchasing, the company decants and bottles it into two types: "Boat Brand Premium Cooking Oil - a brand from Singapore" and "Fami Gold Vegetable Oil - produced from 100% imported ingredients from Singapore".
Regarding the raw materials to produce "Hanoi Premium Seasoning Powder" and "Hong Viet Kitchen Seasoning Powder", the Company purchases raw materials from many different units, then mixes them in a certain ratio... and then packages them.
From the company's self-declared product data and information from the police agency about Nguyen Van Hung's initial statement, it is possible that the products Bep Hong Viet Seasoning Powder, Famimoto MSG were produced from 2019; Hanoi Premium Seasoning Powder was produced from 2021; Boat Brand Premium Cooking Oil; Boad Brand MSG was produced from 2023; Fami Gold Vegetable Oil was produced from 2024.
Cooking oil, MSG, fake seasoning powder put into collective kitchens
According to Phu Tho Provincial Police, during the search of the Famimoto Company's factory and warehouse, the police discovered and temporarily seized more than 71,000 liters of cooking oil, about 40 tons of MSG, 22 tons of seasoning powder, 9 tons of fake seasoning powder and nearly 84 tons of various additives.
Initial determination is that Famimoto Company has sold 144 tons of cooking oil, 118 tons of seasoning powder, and 363 tons of fake seasoning powder to the market.
In addition, the police agency also clarified more than 1,220 tons of MSG with signs of violating label instructions.
The above counterfeit products were sold by Famimoto Vietnam Company to collective kitchens and kitchens in industrial zones, with the main consumer markets being Hanoi and more than 10 northern provinces.
