Royal Hostel Hang Chao case: A series of hotels with the same name were implicated

The incident of refusing guests at Royal Hostel 19 Hang Chao (Hanoi) has caused a wave of mistaken 1-star reviews, affecting many other accommodations named "Royal".

The incident of a female tourist being refused a room at Royal Hostel, No. 19 Hang Chao, Hanoi , despite having paid in full, is attracting great public attention. This incident not only affects the related facility but also causes consequences for a series of other hotels with similar names due to confusion among the online community.

Initial incident and wave of criticism

The incident stemmed from a video posted by a female tourist named Q., recording the scene of her being denied a room at 2 a.m. The video quickly went viral, reaching nearly 3 million views in a few days and attracting tens of thousands of comments criticizing the hotel's unprofessional attitude.

On Google Maps, Royal Hostel 19 Hang Chao has received nearly 35,000 reviews, with an average rating of just 1 star. Most of these negative reviews stem from the online community's reaction after watching the video.

Consequences of name confusion

Due to the popularity of the name "Royal", many unrelated hotels in Hanoi have unintentionally become victims of criticism. Platforms such as Google Maps, Booking, and TripAdvisor have recorded a series of 1-star reviews with the content of "fraud, room cancellation" targeting the wrong addresses.

Some of the facilities that were severely affected include:

  • Royal Hotel Long Bien (Sai ​​Dong)
  • Royal Hanoi Hotel (Thanh Tri)
  • The Royal Hotel (West Lake)

These hotels had to simultaneously speak up on media channels and social networks, affirming that they had no connection to the incident at Hang Chao.

Response from affected hotels

A representative of Royal Hotel Long Bien emphasized the motto of reputable and transparent operations and has never received any complaints about room reservations or payments. Similarly, Royal Hanoi Hotel in Thanh Tri also affirmed that it always puts safety and service quality first.

The owners of these hotels had to post a cry for help on social media, asking the online community to carefully check the address before leaving a review. One hotel owner said: “We are in Thanh Tri, dozens of kilometers from Hang Chao, please read the address carefully before leaving a review.”

As for the female tourist in the initial incident, she also spoke up and listed the hotels that were mistakenly rated to help the community distinguish and avoid causing unnecessary damage to unrelated establishments.
