In Vinh Long, there is a truly unique house, arguably one of a kind in Vietnam, because it was built from 4,000 coconut trees.
The owners of the coconut house are Mr. Duong Van Thuong (84 years old) and Mrs. Nguyen Ngoc Giac - a well-known wealthy couple in the region.
Except for the roof tiles, every detail, such as the balustrades, rafters, columns, partitions, and interior furnishings, is made from coconut wood. To increase longevity, the coconut trees are soaked in water for about a year after purchase, their outer shells are removed, and then they are treated to prevent termite infestation. The interior and household items are also made entirely of coconut. The construction cost of the house was approximately 6 billion VND.
