The "Prison Break" series returns after six years, expected to be without main characters Michael Scofield and Lincoln Burrows.
According to Deadline, the film is currently in the concept development stage, set in the same context as the original. The series is written and executive produced by Elgin James. However, many fans expressed disappointment when they learned that two important roles would not appear in the series.
One account on social network X wrote: "As a die-hard fan, I hope the project fails because the main characters are the reason people watch the series." Another viewer said that the producer should create a new and unique work, instead of riding on the success of the old series.

Prison Break, with 90 episodes, is a popular action television series in North America in the second half of the 2000s. The content revolves around engineer Michael Scofield (played by Wentworth Miller) trying to free his wrongly convicted brother in prison, Lincoln Burrows (played by Dominic Purcell). The work was nominated for Best Television Series at the 2005 Golden Globe Awards.
Airing on Fox from 2005 to 2017, the first season was originally only produced for 13 episodes, but due to its sudden success, the producers added nine more episodes. According to Collider, each season attracted an average of more than 8 million viewers. Domestically, the work also created a fever when it was shown on the small screen in 2013.
Although the following three seasons were not as critically acclaimed as the first two, the show still has a loyal fan base. In 2020, actor Wentworth Miller wrote on Instagram that he would not play Michael Scofield in Prison Break because he was bored with the heterosexual character. In 2013, the actor came out as gay, surprising many fans.
