The series "Prison Break" returns after six years, but is not expected to feature the main characters Michael Scofield and Lincoln Burrows.
According to Deadline, the project is currently in the conceptual development stage, set in the same context as the original work. The series is written and executive produced by Elgin James. However, many fans have expressed disappointment upon learning that two key roles will not be featured in the series.
One user wrote on social media platform X: "As a huge fan, I hope the project fails because the main characters are the reason people watch the series." Another viewer suggested that the producers should create something new and unique, instead of capitalizing on the success of the old series.

Prison Break, a 90-episode action television series, was a hit in North America in the late 2000s. The story centers around engineer Michael Scofield (played by Wentworth Miller) as he tries to free his brother, Lincoln Burrows (played by Dominic Purcell), who is wrongly convicted and imprisoned. The series was nominated for Best Television Series at the 2005 Golden Globe Awards.
Airing on Fox from 2005 to 2017, the first season initially consisted of only 13 episodes, but due to its phenomenal success, the producers added nine more. According to Collider, each season averaged over 8 million viewers. Domestically, the series also became a sensation when it aired on television in 2013.
Although the later three seasons weren't as critically acclaimed as the first two, the show still has a loyal fanbase. Back in 2020, actor Wentworth Miller wrote on Instagram that he wouldn't be playing Michael Scofield in Prison Break because he was tired of the heterosexual character. In 2013, the actor publicly came out as gay, surprising many fans.
