Switch to suitable crops
Previously, in Ninh Dong commune, there were only 2 households growing chives. To implement crop conversion, the Women's Union of the commune promoted and mobilized people to share chive seeds so that more people could grow them together, creating favorable conditions for buying and selling. After that, many rice growing areas in the highlands were converted to chive growing by people. In 2017, the Women's Union of the commune established a Chive Growing Association with 35 members. Currently, the chive growing area of the group is about 18 hectares. To help the members of the group, the Women's Union of the commune has supported loans to create jobs at a rate of 50 million VND/household to invest in production when needed. Households in difficult circumstances are supported with a revolving fund for poverty reduction of 5 million VND/household to buy seeds and expand the area. Members of the group contribute revolving capital without interest, and exchange labor to support each other in the production process. Thanks to that, chive cultivation has developed, bringing year-round income to growers and creating jobs for many local female workers.
