A Xiaomi SU7 Ultra owner has just put his car up for sale after more than three months of use, accepting a significant loss of up to 150,000 yuan (equivalent to nearly 500 million VND). According to technology blogger “Cepingjun”, the SU7 Ultra was purchased for around 560,000 yuan (1.960 billion VND) and is now being resold for just 410,000 yuan (1.435 billion VND).
The car was delivered on March 7 this year, meaning it has been in the hands of its first owner for less than four months. The blogger said that the price of the SU7 Ultra on the used car market fluctuates quite a lot and the current asking price is for reference only. Previously, Xiaomi's standard SU7 model created a "phenomenon" in the market when it held its value very well due to scarce supply. The price retention rate of the standard SU7 after one year of use exceeded 90%, much higher than the average of 70% of current electric vehicles - there was even a "price reversal" situation when used cars were more expensive than new cars.
However, the SU7 Ultra seems unable to replicate that feat. Part of the reason is that delivery times are no longer as long as they used to be. According to the Xiaomi Auto app, the SU7 Ultra’s delivery time is now around 19 weeks – compared to 34 to 48 weeks for the standard SU7. In addition, the SU7 Ultra targets the high-performance segment – where customers are less price-sensitive but the market size is smaller, resulting in a lower potential for price retention in the used car market. The SU7 Ultra was launched by Xiaomi on February 27, 2025 in three versions, with the standard version priced at 529,900 yuan ($72,900) and the limited edition Nürburgring priced at 814,900 yuan ($112,200). Immediately after going on sale, the model quickly attracted strong interest: more than 6,900 orders in just 10 minutes and 10,000 orders in just two hours – enough to complete the annual sales target.
The SU7 Ultra that the blogger is selling is one of the first ones to leave the factory, although its condition and usage history are unknown. However, with the large depreciation after only a few months, it can be seen that the SU7 Ultra is unlikely to become a “legendary value retention” like the standard SU7 model – which has been resold at a high price even after running tens of thousands of kilometers.
